Virtual Knit and Crochet at Home Meal Deliveries for Families of PHA School ![]() ![]() Monday, January 25th 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Come together virtually to meet other volunteers while we knit / crochet hats, scarves or mittens to donate for kids and adults at non-profits in your community. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity that will be done over video call! Our partners currently accepting these handmade items are: My Brother's Table, More Than Words, Maverick Landing Community Services, Fourth Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, and Boston Living Center. During the pandemic, the PHA School Meals Program has faced challenges getting school meals to kids who have long relied on school for their daily nutrition (breakfast & lunch) throughout the school year. Since they are a regional school, their students come from over 40 cities and towns in the Boston area. PHA School Meals is dedicated to making remote learning work for families, so they are initiating a Delivery Program and starting small.
Distribute Food at the American Red Cross Food Pantry Help with GBNCC Food Pantry ![]() ![]() Wednesday January 27 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The American Red Cross works to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Boston Food Pantry provides a 3-day supply of emergency food to 4,500 low-income clients per month. Volunteers will help distribute food to clients, prepare bags of perishable items for distribution, and pack food bags for the next distribution date. Friday, January 22 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
In partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank, Greater Boston Nazarene Compassion Center (GBNCC), distributes more than 7,000 pounds of food each week to families in need. This partnership allows for the food pantry to serve over 3,600 community members monthly in the Greater Boston area. Volunteers will support the pantry by breaking down boxes and distributing food to individuals and families.
![]() Since 2006, Boston Cares has organized volunteer projects for MLK Day. This years virtual weekend long event engaged nearly 1,000 volunteers with 24 sessions, including a variety of trainings, educational opportunities, discussions about community issues, and remote service.
