Computer Testing and Packing at World Computer Exchange

Saturday, September 15th

and Monday, September 17th

Multiple daytime shifts

Help bridge the digital divide by testing and packing computers that have been donated for shipments of working sets to schools and community organizations in developing countries. Technical skills are always helpful but are not required; tasks include turning on equipment, taping printer cables with printers, counting mice, etc. The projects on September 17th are special projects to load and pack computer equipment onto pallets that will go into a 20' shipping container. Volunteers are needed to help lift equipment, load onto pallets, and help wrap the pallets in cardboard and shrink wrap. Lunch is provided!

Donation and Kitchen Help at Daily Table

Tuesday, September 18th

and Wednesday, September 19th

5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Daily Table receives donations of surplus, excess produce that must be sorted and organized for quality assurance. Volunteers will sort through donations and triage produce for use in the commissary kitchen, for sale on the floor, and for composting. Our business model of selling produce and grocery items in addition to prepared meals leaves us with many possible uses for food, but also requires careful hands-on processing. Volunteers may also help in the kitchen with food preparation, packaging, and labeling, or preparing and distributing samples in our engagement zone. Plan to be busy and on your feet!

Rose Gardening with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy

Tuesday, September 18th

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Volunteers are needed to prune, deadhead, weed, and care for the roses in the Kelleher Rose Garden, in the Back Bay Fens. Rosarians will be on hand to train and demonstrate rose care. Please bring your own water bottle and wear clothes that can get dirty. (Long pants and long sleeves recommended.) As always, newcomers are welcome.

This is a unique opportunity to learn gardening techniques while helping to maintain and beautify one of the jewels of the Emerald Necklace.
