Dear friends,
There is no question that the biggest highlight of our week was the vaccination clinic held at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh on Monday. Our pharmacy partner, CVS, arrived promptly at 9 a.m. with a team of six pharmacists and two technicians. Over the course of a very busy day, they immunized 180 of our staff and 124 of our elders. This first round of vaccination will be followed by a return visit on January 18 at which time they will administer the second injection to those who received the first, and do first injections for those who were not vaccinated this week. Those elders who were with us for short term rehab did have the opportunity to receive the vaccine subject to their ability to return for the January 18 visit. Everyone who received the vaccine, both staff and elders, was observed for 15-30 minutes after they received their injection. We were grateful that no one had any real side effects, the biggest complaint was of a sore, but very tolerable, arm later in the day. The atmosphere at Rockleigh that day was one of true celebration as we all recognized that we were taking a big step towards putting an end to COVID-19. We look forward to our vaccination clinic at Jewish Home Assisted Living and are hoping to firm up a date before too long.

As we wrap up 2020, we can't help but reflect on what a difficult year this has been for everyone. I am grateful for our elders who have been unfailingly supportive, patient and understanding. I am grateful for their family members who have not just been cooperative but have also shared so many words of encouragement. I am grateful for our board members and community who have been there for us without fail. And, most of all, I am grateful for our amazing team at the Jewish Home Family. We have come together with courage, creativity and compassion to get through the challenges of COVID. May 2021 be a year of health, peace and happiness for all.
Be well, ![]() Carol Silver Elliott
