Beginning the Conversation about Race
Join faith leaders from across the synod as we commemorate Martin Luther King Day, January 16, 2017. Receive tools that will be helpful in starting a conversation with family and friends. Learn more about ourselves and explore how personal histories influence opinions and attitudes. Work with other faith leaders to develop strategies that apply to your life and community. This workshop is sponsored by the Southeastern Iowa Synod Anti-Racism Task Force Commission for Evangelical Mission. To register follow the link below.

Congregational Report
2016 Congregational Report Forms were mailed to congregations the week of December 12. We encourage all congregations to file online. Build in calculators to make it easier for the person in your congregation who is completing the form, and it saves time for synod and churchwide staff who must enter forms that are hand written. Online forms can be found by clicking the link below. You will need your Congregation ID number and Password (found in the upper corner of the mailed copy). The Synod Center for Ministry has a copy of passwords if needed. We anticipate the online filing for 2016 will open on January 10, 2017. Completed forms must be submitted by February 15, 2017.

ConFEST 2017: Act2Day 4 Tomorrow
A synod-wide event to enhance and support congregation confirmation ministries by exploring churchwide connections, engaging servant learning and creating community.

Act2Day 4 Tomorrow is ELCA World Hunger's event for youth in middle school and high school. Youth will build community with each other, learn more about hunger and ELCA World Hunger, and take time to reflect on how God is calling them to respond to need in their world. Based on Acts 2:42, Act2Day 4 Tomorrow draws on the seven faith practices of the ELCA (pray, study, serve, give, invite, encourage and worship).

Martin Luther: Art and the Reformation
Five hundred years ago, one man took a stand that shook Europe and changed the world. Now you can see the story of Martin Luther and the Reformation brought to life through astonishing artworks and historical objects, traveling outside of Germany for the first time ever. Luther used art and the newly invented printing press to challenge Europe's leaders and spread a revolution of religious, cultural, and societal change. This exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, gold, textiles, and works on paper - as well as Luther's personal possessions and recent archaeological finds - that shed new light on an explosive era and the man who ignited it.

This exhibit is open now through January 15, 2017, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
