Keep busy and entertained at the Library!

 

Summer Quest 2018!

Theme - Libraries Rock

June 18 - August 31

For students entering grades K-8

 

Motivate your child to read over the summer months and participate in enrichment activities that encourage their diverse passions and interests.  Join the Summer Reading Club to be eligible to earn medals, food coupons and/or prizes for time spent reading.  Don't miss the new and improved reward/prize system for Middle Schoolers this year too. 

 

In addition, please join us for many exciting classes, programs and events we have planned to rock your summer days and nights!  Check out our reading programs for high school students and adults too.  There is something for everyone at the library this summer so stop in and sign up today.


 

Read to the Dog

Love dogs?  Love reading?  Sign up in the library for a 10 minute slot this summer to read to our very friendly reading dog, Star.  Register in the library 

 

Band Instrument Class
Thursday, August 2· 6:30-7:30pm
For students entering grades 3 & 4

 Learn more about a variety of cool band instruments and how to make beautiful music with each of them.  To be part of the random lottery for possible attendance, register here.

 

Middle School Library Jeopardy Finals
Monday, August 6· 7-8pm
For students entering grades 5-8

 Come out and cheer on our 3 final Library Jeopardy contestants as they compete to be the top winner for this summer!  Library Jeopardy is a fun trivia game based on the books middle schoolers were asked to read this summer.  The event will be filmed and aired on UMGA-TV.   No registration required.

 

Edible Book Contest

Wednesday, August 8 - entries must be submitted between 9am-3pm

For students entering Kindergarten - 8th grade

This summer, you are invited to enter the Library's 10th Annual Edible Book Contest.  The only rules are that your creation must be fully edible and must be somehow related to a children's book!  Prizes awarded to top creations.  Entries will be served at Upper Merion's Got Talent!  No registration required.

Come out and cheer on our local Upper Merion kid talent as they entertain us in this enjoyable show for the whole family.  Enjoy great talent and delicious snacks. No registration required.
 

Spray Paint Your Own T-shirt

Thursday, August 9 · 6:30-8pm

For students entering grades 7-12

UM Township Building

 

Bring your own T-shirt and we will provide the spray paint!  Make a cool creation with us.  Meet at the rear entrance of the township building.  Registration required.

 

Lego Building Jr. 

Monday, August 13 · 11am-1pm

For students entering grades K-4

Come build, create and celebrate with Legos!  Registration required.

 

Super Build Workshop

Monday, August 13 · 6:30-7:30pm

For students entering grades 5-8

Build and explore with lots of fun and educational STEM toys, including robots, legos, cubelets and more. Registration required.

Bring a bagged lunch and come to the library to discuss some great books, participate in activities based on the book and play a trivia game.  The book we will be discussing this week is Orphan Island (by Laurel Snyder).  Registration required.


 

Preschool Explorers

Explore science, technology,engineering, art and math in this hands-on program especially designed for preschoolers!  This month's theme is Body Science.  Registration required.

 

Karaoke Night

Wednesday, August 22 · 6:30-7:30pm

For students entering grades 5 and up

Sing your heart our with your friends at this fun Karaoke night.  No experience necessary - just come. No registration required.
