Three industry professionals will provide their unique perspectives on the oft-discussed but little-researched culinary tourism category, a complex and powerful force in destination marketing. Chris Cavanaugh, President of Magellan Strategy Group, will first present the highlights of a new national survey of culinary travelers and their preferences and behaviors, followed by two expert destination marketers: Diana Kelterborn, CRM & Research Analyst of Visit Loudoun (VA), who will share how her DMO is reaching these travelers with a research-based approach, and Robin McClain, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications for Destination DC, who will discuss how they have embraced culinary tourism in a city with a strong and ever-changing restaurant dynamic and many diverse neighborhoods.

Chris Cavanaugh has worked as a consultant for the last 15 years with urban and rural destinations of all sizes and many attractions, especially historic, natural, and cultural sites.  He’s a tourism policy nerd who combines a love of tourism strategic planning, marketing, and research into forward-thinking recommendations for his clients.  Chris's bio

Diana Kelterborn is the CRM & research analyst at Visit Loudoun where she manages all research-related projects including market research and economic impact studies. Diana oversaw a 2019 craft beverage study which evaluated the state of Loudoun County’s winery and farm brewery industries. Diana's bio

Robin McClain serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Destination DC, the official destination marketing organization for Washington, DC. In her role, Robin leads Destination DC’s efforts to generate interest and visitation to the city while leveraging the latest research, technology and trends to attract consumers.  Robin's bio
