Communion Service at The Lutheran Center

July 25

There will be a service of Holy Communion this Thursday at the Lutheran Center at 11:30 a.m. This will be a brief service (30 minutes), and a chance to worship together with anyone who would welcome this opportunity outside of Sunday morning. The bishop’s staff will provide a brief order of worship using the lessons from the previous Sunday.

Flooding Preparedness Webinar

July 31 at 9:30 a.m.

Localized flooding has in the last year been a real danger to communities across Eastern Pennsylvania. A webinar on July 31st at 9:30 am – 11 am will give information for congregations to help strengthen their communities:

  • Learn Steps for a congregation to be better prepared for emergency weather and natural disasters
  • Resources to share with community residents and members when property damage occurs
  • How to make your community stronger: early response and long term recovery
  • How Lutheran Disaster Response and UCC Disaster Ministries help communities when natural disasters like flooding happen

August 10. Workshop for Church Musicians, Pastors, and Others.The Synod Worship Team and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) are co-sponsoring a workshop for church musicians, pastors, and others on Saturday, August 10, at Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown, PA. The event is titled "Doing Common Things Uncommonly Well: Assembly Song." It is one of a series of events that ALCM is doing this year under the name "Hearts.Hands.Voices." September 21. Youth Fest 2019. “Not Ashamed: Living Out and Standing Up for the Gospel of Faith!” Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville. Come join us for a day of faith, food, and fun. October 5. We Love: Building Safer & More Welcoming Congregations for LGBTQ+ Youth and Families. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter, Bethlehem. A day to learn more about how to make your congregation safer and more welcoming for people whom the church often excludes. Workshops by Reconciling Works, Bradbury Sulivan, and more. Keynote speaker: Jamie Bruesehoff from the ELCA Youth Gathering. Registration is $15.00 (includes lunch). Scholarships are available. October 8-9. Parish Secretaries’ Seminar. “Other Duties as Assigned.” This year we are presenting a session on Media Management entitled "Can I Use This?", a session on Transitions within Leadership and where we fit as administrators entitled "How Do You Role?", and a session to support us in our own spirituality as we help others entitled most appropriately "God, Help?" Grace, Shillington seek a part-time Director of Christian Education, 25 hours per week; specific days and hours are negotiable. The Director of Christian Education will oversee, coordinate, and administer the Christian education of Grace children and youth, and participate in community outreach to support the growth of the congregation. Bachelor’s Degree in education, ideally with an emphasis on religion. Teaching experience is preferred. Clearances and background checks are required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate with children according to their age level and ability to understand, and possess good organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
