December may have been short, but we packed a lot of learning and fun into it. Students learned about Advent, La Salette, and the nativity. We finished December's classes off with fun Christmas parties and even a visit from Santa.

What Will We Learn in January?
 
 
 
 
January 6-8, 2019
  • Pre-K--5th Grade will focus on the theme: FAMILY. Students will focus on the Holy Family and Epiphany.
  • Our Bible verse this week will be “We saw His star and came to do him homage" Matt 2:2.
  • Gospel related question you can discuss as a family, "What kind of gift could you give Jesus this week? OR What is your favorite part about your family that you feel is a gift from God?"
 
 
 
 
 
January 13-15, 2019
  • Pre-K--5th Grade will focus on the theme: BAPTISM. Students will learn about baptism and how it mean we are welcomed into the Church and cleansed of Original Sin.
Our Bible verse this week will be, "Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ" Acts 2:38
  • Gospel related question you can discuss as a family, "Why do people want to become a part of the Church family?"
 
 
 
 
 
January 20 & 22, 2019 (No class on 1/21 ONLY)
  • Pre-K--5th Grade will focus on the theme: POWER. Students, this week, will discuss the power of the Holy Spirit and Jesus' power of miracles.
Our Bible verse this week will be, "Do whatever he tells you" John 2:5
  • Gospel related question you can discuss as a family, "In what ways have you seen God's POWER work or move in your family or your lives?"
 
 
 
 
 
January 27-29, 2019
  • Pre-K--5th Grade will focus on the theme: ANOINTED. Students will celebrate this week's Respect for Life theme by learning about creation, how God has chosen and called us, and how we have been created special for God. This week we honor all life.
Our Bible verse this week will be, "He has anointed me" Luke 4:18.
  • Gospel related question you can discuss as a family, "What are the many ways you can respect all life and creation?"
 
 
 
 
 
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd January Agenda:
We will continue to celebrate the Christmas season during our first session back in the atrium. We change the prayer cloth from purple to white, remove our Advent wreath and add items that remind us of the great feast of the Nativity. We will be discussing Epiphany and the Presentation in the Temple in January.

 Boxes Delivered Overseas
Our 542 shoeboxes have gone out and many of them are about to be or have been delivered. If you did the "Track Your Box" option, you can click on the following link to find out where your box ended up: Tracking Link

Basketball Families
If you have or know of a child that is in basketball here at St. Ann's, please be aware that if you drop off your child during a Monday or Tuesday LAUNCH session, that child will not be permitted to enter through the LAUNCH doors to go upstairs to the gym. Per Archdiocesan guidelines we are not allowed to have non-background checked adults or non-registered students in the religious education area during class sessions for safety and policy reasons. Please make sure that all children are dropped off near the gym doors only. 
 
 
 
 
 
Lego Request
The LAUNCH Dept is putting on a special lesson January 27th that will involve legos. In order to make this lesson fun, interactive, and meaningful we are requesting your donations and help. If you have any old legos you can donate it would be greatly appreciated. Please drop off your donation to the LAUNCH Dept before January 22nd. Thank you!

January 7th: LAUNCH Lounge
Mondays, 3:30-5pm
Donnellan Café 
Parents, don't fight the East Cobb traffic while your child is at Launch. Come in and enjoy coffee and free wifi in our newly remodeled Donellan Café, across from the Launch offices. No lectures, just time to work on your laptop, check social media or simply take a break. The first 10 of you can even keep your spot in the carpool line. 
 
 
 
 
 

January 13th-First Communion Registration
Families can register their child for their preferred First Communion Mass by logging on to their Blue Sombrero registration account and selecting the Mass of their choice, starting on January 13th at 8am. 
There is a Change Fee associated with any transfers or additions that you have to make after registration, so before you register, be certain.

January 14th-15th: First Reconciliation
Sacrament Year 2 students will be making their First Reconciliation January 14th or 15th. Your child's exact sacrament date and time can be located by clicking on the following link:
 
 
 
 
 
January 20th-Class in Session!
January 21st-Class NOT in session (MLK day)-Home Assignment
January 22nd-Class in Session!
We DO have classes on January 20th AND January 22nd. ONLY Monday January 21st is there no class. Students in Sacrament Year 1 and 2 will have a mandatory home assignment they must return to earn credit for 1/21/19.
 
 
 
 
 
February 9th: Family Service Opportunity
Teach your students to serve and love others, while socializing with other LAUNCH families and having a fun day together. Families will be helping out the St. Vincent de Paul pantry.

February 10th-12th: Tough Questions
Puberty/Changing Bodies
Tough Questions is a question and answer information and teaching session that helps parents figure out how to answer those Tough Questions your children ask you.
This week's session will be over puberty/changing bodies. It will be located in the Library and hosted by LAUNCH Special Events Coordinator. Tough Questions takes place during the time of your child's registered LAUNCH session. No need to sign-up. Just show up!
 
 
 
 
 
February 10th: Inquiry Workshop
Students who are signed up for Inquiry classes have their 3rd workshop on 2/10/19.018. Parents and enrolled children need to report to the Donnellan Cafe from 1-3pm

January 12th-FREE Movie & Game Night

January 13th-St. Ann's ALPHA Starts
ALPHA is an adult faith program that helps adults discuss faith in a social and non-threatening environment. Come to ALPHA if you are not sure about your faith, if you want to grow in your faith, or if you are strong in your faith. ALPHA is for everyone!
