Three Ways to Donate to Upper Merion Families in Need

The holidays are a great time for giving back – whether that means donating winter clothing to those struggling to stay warm, holiday toys for less fortunate children, or canned food for the hungry. This holiday season, bring joy to a local family in need by making a donation.

You can grab a tag off the Giving Tree, located in the lower level of the township building. Donations can be dropped off in the boxes in the upper level lobby.

Next Market: Saturday, November 17

It's time to wrap up our ninth season! It looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day so we can say goodbye in style: with our annual Chili Cook-off Contest, one of our favorite musical guests Rick Pultorak, and one last chance to shop with your favorite vendors and artisans! Everyone is welcome to taste and vote in the Chili Cook-off Contest for $5!

If you still have Market Money that you haven't used, please be sure to use it this week. It doesn't carry over to next season, and can't be used at the winter market.

Speaking of the winter market, it begins on December 1! Winter market, like in past years, will run every other Saturday from December 1 to May 4. The December 1 market will run concurrently with Holiday Village from 12:00PM to 3:30PM. The biggest change this year is the venue -- starting on December 15 the market will move inside the township building in the upper level hallway between the front door and the library! Market hours will also be extended to 10:00AM to 1:00PM!

Interested in volunteering for the market? Contact Vince at 484-636-3910 or email

Fall Leaf Collection

Our Public Works Department would like to remind residents of a few tips during our leaf collection season.

🍁 Keep leaf piles as close to the curb as possible or in biodegradable paper bags
🍁 Use caution while driving in rainy weather, as wet leaves can make roads more slippery
🍁 Keep leaves out of storm drains to prevent blockage

Visit the Fall Leaf Collection page on our website to find your zone, guidelines, and schedule.

Neighborhood Meals on Wheels

Volunteers needed! Can you give 90 minutes of your time to make someone's life a little brighter? Neighborhood Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to pack meals, and deliver meals weekly, monthly and on a substitute basis. Shifts needed are 9:15 to 10:45AM and 10:30 to 11:45AM. Contact Crystal or Trudy at 610-265-7051, email, or visit

Bad Bugs!

If you haven't heard of the Emerald Ash Borer or Spotted Lanternfly by now, you must be living under a rock. Both insects have made Upper Merion their homes, and homeowners and property owners need to be aware of what to do if you spot them on your property. Learn more:

Environmental Advisory Council: Tip of the Week

Thanksgiving typically means lots of food, which can lead to more food waste. An easy way to have a greener Thanksgiving is to compost your kitchen scraps! 24% of the waste Americans send to landfills is kitchen scraps, so composting them can have a big impact! Keeping that waste out of landfills doesn't just save space; it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, as decomposition in landfills creates methane (a greenhouse gas 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide).
