Fifth Sunday of Easter

Scripture: John 16:5-15

A few weeks ago local author Bill Tammeus talked to Adult Education about his latest book The Value of Doubt: Why Unanswered Questions not Unquestioned Answers Build Faith. During the Q & A time we somehow got onto the subject of the Trinity. While the Trinity has been a fundamental doctrine of the church almost from its very earliest days, it remains puzzling to most of us. We use trinitarian language in prayers and liturgy and sing hymns that that praise the Creator, Redeemer, and Holy Spirit—but what do we really mean when we speak of God in this way. This week we will be reflecting on how the church came to have the doctrine of the Trinity (which is never mentioned in the New Testament) and unpacking both its wisdom and its limitations.

Rev. René Jensen, Interim Senior Pastor

Musicians this Sunday are: Joy Zimmerman & Ryan Dugan

Last week's sermon is available HERE.

Our relationship with El Higueral has been an integral part of our church since almost the beginning of our existence. On May 19th at 9:30am, Room 102, we will meet to take a look at where we have been together, what we have accomplished and how our relationship has evolved. We will consider our long term goals, and the vision we have for this relationship. We hope you will join us for this discussion.

CLEAN WATER - 884 million people around the world do not know, on a daily basis, where they will get water. This affects the lives of girls, in particular, charged with finding and bringing water to their homes. Many spend hours each day doing this, preventing them from attending schools or working to support families.
Mission & Outreach
The Saint Andrew Mission Team resolves to seek God, create community and practice justice by actively promoting congregational engagement in the community, both locally and globally.

There are additional Mission Reports in the Hearth Room and online HERE.

Our current rehab project at 7138 Bales, KCMO, is finally ready for volunteers! Here is a link to the web site for volunteers to sign up for work on the project on an individual basis. If you have trouble with the web site, contact Thom Norbury,
Thom would also like to schedule a Saturday in June or July for Saint Andrew volunteers to work together as a group as we have done on past projects. Vivian Gibbens has graciously volunteered to provide lunch for our group. Please let Thom know what Saturday would be best for you and he will try to schedule a date to accommodate the largest group of volunteers. Our theme for the day will be "food, fellowship and fun!"

We will have a meeting at 9:30 am in Room 102 to discuss our mission, goals and plans for El Higueral. This meeting is for anyone who is interested in attending.

You care about refugees – and the fact that millions of them aren’t getting enough to eat each day. So why not challenge yourself to do something about it? During World Refugee Week, June 16-23, 2019, we invite you to join the Ration Challenge with Church World Service (CWS). You’ll commit to eating and drinking the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan. It’s not much: just a small amount of rice, flour, lentils, chickpeas, beans, sardines and oil. But the money you raise provides food, medicine and education for refugees…and people living in poverty around the world! It’s a tough challenge – no meat, no coffee! – but with the help of your friends and family (and a couple of pointers from the CWS team), you’ll push through. Even more importantly, you’ll take your empathy for others to the next level! Thinking about getting involved? You’ll be joining thousands of others raising money and awareness for refugees! Go to to sign up. Display in Friends Hall.
