Denton's Quakertown: A Black
History Month Conversation with Pulitzer Finalist Lee Martin
The public is invited to attend a black history month conversation with Pulitzer finalist, Lee Martin, about his historical-fiction novel, Quakertown. Martin will discuss his creative process and inspiration for the novel and Carla Carter-Bishop, Lecturer in UNT's Department of Media Arts, will present a real-world history version of what happened. Musical performances, Q&A sessions, and an author signing session will follow. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; lecture starts at 7 p.m.
Back by popular demand and now in their 12th year, McKinney's Laura Bartlett returns with comedians Jan Norton, Sherry Belle and Linda Stogner. Four Funny Females isn't designed to shock or offend, but leave audiences feeling better about themselves and the world around them. $22 general admission, 8-9:30 p.m. 
Patterned after the Mystic Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans, which was established to help abused and abandoned canines, Krewe of Barkus
will feature a parade, vendor booths,
interactive activities and more. Costume
category winners will compete for more than $2,000 in prizes donated by the merchants of McKinney. This year's theme celebrates a parade of nations, titled "The Bark-A-Palooza Tour Around the World-Celebrating Countries & Cultures Across the Globe." 12:30-4 p.m. Parade begins at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Park, 300 W. Louisiana. Free admission.

Dinosaurs Live! (ONE MORE WEEK! Through Feb. 18) Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Museum’s nature trails at the 12th annual Dinosaurs Live!
