The Guitar Sanctuary presents a special double bill with Tommy Katona and Texas Flood and the Maylee Thomas Band Friday at 8 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.) at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center. VIP Tables with seating for four are $150 per table. Downstairs Seats (first come, first served) are $25. General Admission (standing room only on the upstairs balcony) tickets are $10. Dinosaurs Live (shown, Opening Sept. 1)
Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the nature trails at the 13th Annual Dinosaurs Live! The exhibit gives families and friends a fun, educational activity to enjoy together. See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar! Photo op and play area dinosaurs will be available as well. This year, the exhibit also features an outdoor fossil dig. The dinosaur trail is jogging stroller friendly (but not suitable for strollers with small wheels or wheelchairs). Dinos will not be animated when temperatures fall below 35 degrees. 

Moth Migration Project (Thru Sept. 30)
The Moth Migration Project is a crowd-sourced collection of hand printed, drawn and cut paper moths founded by Hilary Lorenz. This collection will be exhibited in an installation along walls of the Heard exhibit halls. The featured moths will include species native to our region. 

Nature Storytime (Friday)
This weekly storytime focuses on nature-related stories to engage children in learning and the appreciation and care of nature. Included with general admission to the museum. 10:30-11 a.m. 

Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden (Open thru September)
Walk among free-flying native butterflies and other pollinators. The butterfly house includes native species, which vary by season and what is available from suppliers. The garden is filled with host plants that naturally attract butterflies. Included in general admission.
Intercultural Juxtapositions 
This weekend's exhibit at The Cove features a collaborative project by artists Kathy Garland and Annie Royer. Chinese mountains and streams, Japanese handscrolls, and the expressive alliance of painting and poetry are just a few of the aesthetic traditions that inform this collection of writings, photographs and paintings by Kathy Garland and Annie Royer.  During this weekend celebration of word and image, join the artists for poetry, music and artistic collaboration.  Friday, 7–9 p.m. featuring live music by Josiah Leeper; Saturday, 3-9 p.m. with a discussion on collaboration at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a poetry reading from 6-7 p.m. At The Cove, 402 N. Visit a replica of the bedroom of Bobby Younger, a 1942 McKinney High graduate, and a gunner on a B-17 during WWII, Bobby Younger, was finally laid to rest 74 years after he was gunned down. Tours are at 11 .m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
