Rostered Minister's Reports to the Bishop
Each year, pastors and deacons are asked to complete a Rostered Minister Report to the Bishop and submit the form directly to Bishop Michael Burk. Reports are expected by February 15. If unable to meet that deadline, a late report is better than no report. Find helpful instructions and a link to all of the forms on the synod website.

Lutheran Day on the Hill
By Rev. Paul Ostrem, Assistant to the Bishop
Our faith in Jesus Christ who cared for the poor and the outcast calls us to speak for those who are left out or relegated to the edges of society. Lutheran Day on the Hill provides you with an opportunity to join a group of passionate, faith-filled advocates in making a difference for tens of thousands of Iowans. Your legislators want and need to hear from you about critical human services issues and needs – and our neighbors in need likewise need our voices and advocacy.

Lutheran Day on the Hill is February 19, 2019.  The morning will include a keynote address from Mikka McCracken from ELCA Hunger, and break out sessions on the three issues that will serve as the focus for conversations with legislators, including 1) Improving Iowa’s Medicaid Managed Care System, 2) Investing in a Strong Child Welfare Workforce, and 3) Supporting Refugee Community Services.

Portico Updates - New Year 2019

Welcome to 2019 Live Well!
2019 Live Well is a web-based tool that invites participants to choose their own path to wellness. It offers a wide variety of activities designed to help create meaningful change. Unlike secular alternatives, the tool recognizes that faith is central to daily life and can enhance overall wellness. That’s why 2019 Live Well focused on the physical, emotional, financial and spiritual dimensions of the Wholeness Wheel. Members and spouses with ELCA-Primary health benefits can each earn up to $400 wellness dollars. For a quick introductory tour of the 2019 Live Well tool: https://vimeo.com/305544501/95f07b1745

Stewardship Snippet
Feb. 3, 2019
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It
does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but
rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

This passage provides a good roadmap of how to be good stewards of our loving relationships. Read this
over again, memorize it, print it out. Live it!
