Renewable Portfolio Standard - Bill Hearing

Tuesday, September 19 at 1 PM - 5 PM
Massachusetts State House, Room A-2
24 Beacon St.
Boston, MA

The Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy (TUE) will hold a hearing on bills related to the Renewable Portfolio Standard on September 19, 2017. The RPS is a critical tool for advancing clean energy.

An act relative to solar power and the green economy - Rep. Mark / Sen. Eldridge
An Act to Increase the RPS and Ensure Compliance with the GWSA - Rep. Khan / Sen. Pacheco

Mass Power Forward (a coalition of over 160 organizations including No Fracked Gas in Mass and BEAT) supports increasing the Renewable Portfolio Standard by 3% each year, driving demand for renewable power and growing our local clean energy industries, helping drive the push to a 100% Renewables economy.

It's critical that our legislators see strong support for increasing the RPS. Hearing Room A-2 is small and may not accommodate everyone, but those who support these measures can visit legislators' offices to reinforce our support. Come help swell our numbers!

FERC Protest in D.C. on September 20th

A quorum has been restored at FERC with the confirmation of Trump’s two nominees, Robert Powelson and Neil Chatterjee. By adding these pro-fossil fuel commissioners to FERC, the abuses of power will only continue and get worse as they carry out Trump’s dirty energy agenda.

FERC will be back to holding monthly meetings, starting with the meeting they've scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th. We need to be there in big numbers that day to let FERC and Congress know that the direction they plan to take the country is unacceptable and that we won’t tolerate it.

We’ve been FERCed long enough! Join us in D.C. to send that message!

Coming in October
DPU Reform Bill (H3400) Hearing

Mark your calendars for October 17th - that’s the date of the hearing on several bills relating to gas infrastructure, including the DPU Reform bill, which was written in response to the many abuses of discretion experienced by the NED opposition.  If you are interested in testifying - based on your experience as a potentially impacted landowner, thwarted intervenor, or otherwise - please contact PLAN-NE.  They want to make sure that all of the bases are covered at the hearing.

We're fighting the CT Expansion pipeline, Atlantic Bridge and others, keeping an eye out for possible resurrection of NED or other new projects. We're also working with PLAN-NE, Mass Power Forward and other organizations to help ensure bold steps away from fossil fuel dependency continue and grow!
