2017 Synod Assembly Registration
The 2017 Southeastern Iowa Synod Assembly will be held on May 19-20 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

At this year's assembly, we will be talking about what it means that God so Loves the World. Bishop Burk says, "I am especially looking forward to sharing some of my thoughts about the ways God continues to call us into a hope-filled future and I am anxious to hear and learn from you too."

Administrative Workshop
Improving Internal Controls and Security - Top 10 things you can do to protect your congregation
June 8, 2017
9:30-12:00

What are the top 10 things you can do to protect your congregation? Surprisingly, several simple and inexpensive routine tasks will significantly cut your risk! With an emphasis on prevention and awareness, we'll discuss ways in which churches can effectively improve accounting practices, safeguard accounts, and keep business accounts free of fraud and risk. We'll also discuss the responsibilities of church councils and clergy, proper governance, and allow time for any questions you may have. This workshop is designed for pastors, church councils, congregation audit committees, and administrators.

This will be facilitated by Pamela Druger, a Certified Fraud Examiner with extensive non-profit fraud prevention experience, Professor Emeritus of Augustana College's Accounting Department, and member of Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport

This workshop is provided without cost to congregations of the Southeastern Iowa Synod. To register, click the button below. Questions? Contact Kathy Smith, Southeastern Iowa Synod, 319-338-1273, smith@seiasynod.org

Welcome to the Synod
The Southeastern Iowa Synod received four candidates for call during the churchwide assignment process this spring. We are grateful for Will Layton, Brian Middleswarth, Joshua Kestner, and Kelsey Fitting-Snyder. In these weeks we are sharing a little something about each one.

Meet Joshua Kestner
Josh Kestner will graduate with an M. Dive from Luther Seminary in May 2017. Josh received his BA in sociology from Clemson University. Following college, he volunteered for a year as a Young Adult in Global Mission (YAGM) in Palestine. His candidacy was through the North Carolina Synod, and he served his internship at Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha, Minnesota. As a minister of Word and Sacrament, Josh will serve a two-year pastoral residency at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Rostered Leaders Gathering
Join keynote speakers Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, The Rev. Dr. James Alexander Forbes Jr., and Rachel Held Evans for worship, education, and fellowship. Gathered under the theme of “On the Way…Together,” inspired by the road to Emmaus story (Luke 24:13-35), we will focus on how we are #inthistogether. As we continue to deepen our ecumenical partnerships, confront racism and boldly respond to the needs of the world, this gathering provides the opportunity for leaders to gather and explore what God has in store for us.
