Delivery of Storage Water Begins but Reservoir Remains Above Average

Irrigation delivery from Island Park Reservoir began on July 3, but demand is lower than average because of abundant rainfall this spring. So far this irrigation season, total diversion has been about 25% less than average. Current outflow from Island Park Reservoir is 1,100 cfs, right at average for the date. However, because the reservoir was completely full when delivery started, reservoir content is 107% of average for this time of year. Reservoir outflow will most likely increase to around 1,300 cfs for a few weeks before dropping again near the end of July. Based on current conditions and weather forecasts, reservoir carryover—and next winter’s outflow—will be above average for the second year in a row.

Henry's Fork Days XXXIV - Membership Meeting Presentations

At the annual membership meeting as part of our Henry's Fork Days celebration, HFF staff gave presentations on topics ranging from science and technology, and outreach and education to stewardship and collaboration. Thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast and presentations this year! We had a wonderful turnout and many great questions and points of discussion.

The membership meeting was recorded and informational clips from each talk are forthcoming in a new HFF "educational series". In the meantime, we'd like to provide the slides from each presentation for those who were unable to attend or would like to take a second look.

2018 Summer Interns Have Arrived

Each year, the Henry's Fork Foundation hosts interns from universities across the country, including a Don C. Byers Memorial internship for a student with ties to the Henry's Fork watershed.

This year, interns from Colgate University (New York), St. Lawrence University (New York), Washington and Lee University (Virginia), Stanford University (California) and BYU-Idaho will spend 10-12 weeks conducting field work and assisting with analysis, research, and outreach.

Each student has their own independent project, and for the first time, each intern will also give a formal presentation to HFF staff and the public as part of a weekly summer seminar series. Follow their experience in Henry's Fork Country by reading the intern blog.
