Shabbat Services
The online Shabbat services, both on YouTube and Zoom have been very successful and we are delighted that we have opened the temple for in-person worship, as well.  Because of the state of the virus locally in our communities, we will assess every week and let you know on the temple website if the temple will have in-person services live and on YouTube or on Zoom.  Please check the temple website and the Facebook page.

Colo-Rectal Cancer Screening Presentation

Join us on November 15 at 10am in our Zoom Room 589-198-4173 for a Breakfast with the Rabbi when we will feature Dr. Roy Dressner, one of our congregants, who will lead a workshop on the importance of Colo-Rectal Cancer screening.

Colon cancer screening and preventive measures:

It is estimated that over 140,000 Americans will be diagnosed with CRC this year with around 50,000 deaths making it the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among adults in the U.S.

Colon and rectal cancers (CRC) have historically been thought of as an aging disease with a median age of 63 for both sexes. However a recent study published by the American Cancer Society showed that despite a declining incidence overall, secondary to a more widespread awareness for screening, the incidence has been sharply increasing among middle aged adults under 50 years old. We have seen an increase from 6% in the early 1990’s to 11% in 2013, with most individual in their 40’s.

We will discuss standard screening modalities and current changes to the Society guidelines as well as how they may impact the general population.

Everyone is invited to join us for this very important workshop sponsored by the Men's Club.

Dr. Roy Dressner is a board certified colon and rectal surgeon in practice since 1999. He did his general surgery residency training at Monmouth Medical Center and fellowship training in colorectal surgery at St Lukes’-Roosevelt Medical Center in NYC. He does colon cancer screenings and perform minimally invasive colon surgery for a wide range of disease entities such as colon cancers, diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease(ulcerative colitis/Crohn’s disease).

Shabbat Siddur for At-Home Use Now Available for Pick Up at the Temple

The pandemic has made us all more creative in the way we worship.  Although we prefer to be in the temple, for now, too many people are reluctant to go indoors just yet.  So, to make Shabbat worship easier for you, you are now welcome to come and get a siddur 'Mishkan Tefillah' for as many people as you need in your household.  The only requirement is that you must be a member household of the temple and, when the pandemic is over, you will need to return it or replace it.  Simply come to the temple (call first to let us know you are coming so we can get the books ready for you), take as many books as you need, sign the form and you are good to go.  Now you can follow along the service from home with the physical prayerbook in your hand.
