Scripture: Psalm 139: 14-15

Join us for Youth led services this Sunday May 5th. Our youth explore the theme "True colors" based on the Cyndi Lauper song of the same name. With great youth performing powerful music, sharing their faith, and coming to the table it will surely be a wonderful day of worship for everyone!

A note from our Muslim friends
Our brothers and sisters at the Johnson County Islamic Center brought flowers to Saint Andrew this past Sunday in reaction to the Easter Sunday bombings of churches in Sri Lanka. With the flowers came the following note:

The Muslim community here in Overland Park, Olathe, and Kansas City, want to express our extreme grief at the loss of the innocent lives in Sri Lanka on a sacred day and in  sacred places of worship! We strongly condemn these acts of violence.

We all stand in solidarity with our Christian brothers & sisters during this painful time! We love you and cherish you. We will support you, always!

With love, Friends of the Muslim Community

In a time of so much negative news about immigrants this is a word of hope and encouragement. You can watch it at http://www.strangersintownthefilm.com/.

WISE WOMEN
May 9
7:00pm, Friends Hall
Our Relationship with Food: It's Complicated with Shana Arnhold
A discussion about the complex influences that shape our feelings toward food and our bodies. We will examine the conventional medical approach to “health” and its shortcomings, as well as a different approach that is gaining recognition and delivering lasting health benefits--the anti-diet movement.

Shana Arnhold is a Physician Assistant in gastroenterology who has been practicing in the KC area since 2007. In the quest to help people live healthier lives, she began a Health Improvement Program through the practice but soon discovered that she (and conventional medicine in general) didn’t have the tools needed to help facilitate positive long-term change. Unsatisfied with just allowing patients to struggle, she dove into the psychological aspects of healthy behaviors, sought the help of local professionals, and co-authored a book called FREE TO BE: The non-diet approach to peace with food and body, which aims to help people adjust their mindset to free themselves from the confines of dieting forever.

CLEAN WATER - 884 million people around the world do not know, on a daily basis, where they will get water. This affects the lives of girls, in particular, charged with finding and bringing water to their homes. Many spend hours each day doing this, preventing them from attending schools or working to support families.
