Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
Happy summer, HPN!

It's August and we are HOT in L.A.! But God is still showing up in people's lives, in events that we're hosting, and in conversations. He is nudging the hearts of many professionals who don't yet know Him, and He's stretching the hearts of many who do know Him and want more! Keep praying for quiet, subtle, behind-the-scenes miracles, transformations and re-commitments as we enjoy the end of summer breaks, school vacations and slower production schedules.
Finding God in TV

We're excited to let you know that there is a growing list of TV shows that deal with Godly principles, biblical topics, and truths of Jesus in the themes of their storylines. We want to share with you this analysis of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things. We're not necessarily recommending that you watch the show, so please decide what to watch based on your own research and prayer. But do join us in thanking God for this series and others that deal with spiritual themes. If you're a Stranger Things fan, then please read this and start talking to others about the biblical themes in this hit show. God is working in the television industry.
Pray for the people in sound

We want to pray for a crucial part of films, TV shows and music videos that few people think about but everyone notices: the sound team. Sound is a crucial part of filmmaking and yet, if it's done well, it often won't be acknowledged. These people are highly skilled professionals, but get no public credit or acknowledgement for making the projects a pleasure to listen to. The link below features the sound team that works for Quentin Tarantino, one of Hollywood's best known directors. Pray for production sound mixer Mark Ulano and supervising sound editor Wylie Stateman, and ask the Lord to reveal to them the source of their talent.
Pray for safety for stunt performers

In a recent Call Sheet, we asked you to pray for the safety of stunt performers on set. Shortly after that, a stunt coordinator named Warren Appleby died in an accident on the job during a rehearsal for DC's series Titans. Please pray for Warren's friends and family, and for the cast and crew of Titans as they continue to grieve their loss. Continue to pray for wisdom and caution for those making decisions that will affect safety on set and in rehearsals.
Pray for the team behind HBO Max

Another new streaming service is in the works, so let's pray for all those working to develop HBO Max, which will launch in spring of next year. The executives of HBO Max will make influential decisions around content, creativity, business strategy, and finances, so let's take the opportunity to pray for them by name. Pray for their wisdom and discernment, as well as for the relationships between each of them and their staff. May they be healthy, respectful, and full of grace for one another in their work.
Connect with local HPN community

If you're interested in building community through HPN during the rest of your summer, we want to let you know about our 140 local chapters all over the world. Our incredible volunteer local chapter directors are available to connect with you, and some even lead their own prayer groups focused on Hollywood and the creative community in their own city. We encourage you to connect with the chapter in your area, or if there isn't one nearby, email us back if you'd like to consider starting one yourself.
Thanks so much for praying with us this week. As always, please feel free to respond – we love to hear your thoughts!

With love,
Karen, Erin, Virginia, and Kim

HPN's newest YouVersion devotional on YOUR MISSION FIELD is now available. Have you ever thought of yourself as a missionary? Have you ever defined the place where you live or work as your mission field? This week we're going to focus on God's plan for all of us to be missionaries in our own mission field. We don't have to go overseas. We can spread the gospel to the people around us, just by loving them!
