This Saturday!
Introduction to Tai Chi

March 7, 2015
10:00 am - 11:00 am

Kris Feeney will introduce the ancient Chinese tradition of Tai Chi - a meditation in motion. It is a system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Because this is a low impact practice it is available to people of all ages.
Please wear comfortable clothes to this interactive Farm Talk.
This talk is rescheduled from January. Hope you can join us!

Dreaming of Spring...?
Time to start planning your garden. Spring is just 16 days away! We have an amazing selection of flower and vegetable seeds from High Mowing, Renee's Garden and, new this year, Hudson Valley Seed Library.

We are dreaming of spring, too.
This is our growing area called the "Back Roll-Out."
This is where we should be hardening off pansies and other spring annuals starting in about a week.
That is no optical illusion...the snow is still over four feet deep.
And it's still impossible to get to that tomato greenhouse on the right.

Remember the time change this weekend!
Move your clocks ahead by one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night!

Love it or hate it, you need to do it!

Fresh Turmeric!
There seem to be lots of good reasons to incorporate turmeric into your diet, and taste is right up there with them.  I came across this cauliflower soup recipe and the creamy texture and lightly curried flavor sound just right for this kind of weather. The recipe calls for ground turmeric. To substitute fresh, refer to this general rule of thumb...
1 inch fresh turmeric = 1 TBL freshly grated = 1 tsp ground
