Birding Adventure

Sunday, January 13 | 8:30 to 10:00AM

McKaig Nature Center

Join tour leader Jeff Dale on a bird watching adventure along the McKaig trails. You'll be able to look for year round inhabitant species, white-throated sparrows, dark-eyed juncos, and brown creepers that come south for the winter. Visit McKaig Nature Center's website for more information.

It's National Blood Donor Month! Throughout the month of January, donors will receive a voucher for a free medium hot coffee and a free classic donut from Dunkin Donuts. Schedule your appointment for our next blood drive.

UMBA Spring 2019 Registration Information

Boys and girls ages 3-18 are invited to register for youth quickball, baseball, and softball.

Christmas Tree Collection

The collection season runs now through January 31. Simply leave your tree on the curb and it will be collected by the township. All ornaments, lights, stands, and bags must be removed before disposal. Visit our Christmas Tree Collection page to learn more.

U.S. Small Business Administration Loans Available For Flood Victims

Did the August 10-15, 2018 storms cause damage to your home or business? Montgomery County homeowners, renters, and businesses are now eligible to apply for low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. For more information, read the full press release.

Board of Community Assistance Grant Program

Non-profit organizations and Upper Merion students are encouraged to apply for one of many possible grants that are awarded through the BCA each year. The award applications will be accepted now through April 1, 2019. Learn more.


Environmental Advisory Council: Tip of the Week

Incorporating small changes into our everyday lives can make a sizable impact on our bills, our carbon footprint, and the environment. Below are three ways we can conserve water!

  • Don’t let the water run while you brush your teeth or shave, and turn it on only when you need it. Every minute the faucet runs, five gallons of water go down the drain.
  • Wait until you have a full load to run your dishwasher; the average dishwasher uses 12 gallons of water whether it’s full or half-empty.
  • Wash a full load of laundry; washing machines use 40 gallons of water on average for each load. Run it full or adjust the water level to the size of your load if possible.

Bad Bugs!

If you haven't heard of the Emerald Ash Borer or Spotted Lanternfly by now, you must be living under a rock. Both insects have made Upper Merion their homes, and homeowners and property owners need to be aware of what to do if you spot them on your property. Learn more:

Roadway Restrictions & Alerts

Traffic Signal Replacement

On January 7, the township began replacing the LED signal indicators at 33 of our intersections. The township’s Traffic Signal Division along with Signal Service Inc. will be performing the work for about four to six weeks, depending on the weather. Learn more.

Abrams Road Over Abrams Run

Construction of the bridge carrying Abrams Road over Abrams Run continues. Motorists will be directed to use Beidler Road until construction is complete.
