There is a humanitarian crisis developing in the Philippines. Government leaders launched a "war on drugs", on June 30, which unleashed the fury of police and vigilante squads. The United Nations Commission on Human Rights has reported more than 3,600 addicts slaughtered..
Christian leaders have been contacted by the DILG (Dept. of Interior and Local Government) which, as of this date, has been inundated by 800,000 addicts turning themselves in for the fear of being killed in this genocidal war on drugs! The situation is both massive and extremely urgent.

In the Philippines, evangelical leaders have been invited to work together with the government to address the crisis. They, in partnership with Rev.Ronn Constable, former director of Brooklyn Teen Challenge and Pastor Jimmy Jack, have requested that Global Teen Challenge help them to develop an advisory committee. Only a united, expeditious efforts can impact this crisis! The lives of young people trapped in drug addiction are being squandered in this senseless slaughter.

James Lowans, the Asia Pacific regional director, asked me to represent GTC at Palawan 4, a meeting of bishops and leaders from the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) , Intercessors for the Philippines (IFP) and the NFS Ministry. We will have opportunity to pray together and lay groundwork for important meetings between James Lowans and strategic leaders at the Assemblies of God Mission complex in Davao, Philippines in December. Please pray that God will give us favor and wisdom to engage this humanitarian crisis with the Good News.
Spiritual Impact - LAKE CHAMPION

The annual gathering of Metro New York City and upstate New York Teen Challenge centers at Lake Champion is always a highlight of our ministry year. Joining with one of the founders of our ministry, Rev. Don Wilkerson, Pastor Jimmy Jack, the executive director of Brooklyn Teen Challenge, Russ Hodgins, Pastor Willie Ramos, Pastor Victor Harris and so many others. We had the exciting opportunity to minister to hundreds of students with a heart to serve Jesus. We were blessed to pass out over 100 Global Internship forms and speak to students and counselors about their future on the mission field. Click here for a 3 minute video

Day of Prayer Richmond Virgina

It was a privilege to be a part of the 50 State Decision America Tour prayer rally with Franklin Graham here in Richmond, Virginia. As he stood before the crowd of hundreds and thousands at the capitol steps in Richmond, Rev. Graham led us in a time of prayer of personal and generational repentance as well as repentance for the sins of our nation. Using the prayer of Nehemiah as a model, we all prayed confessing our sin, the sins of our "fathers," the sins of our nation. He brought a challenge to take the opportunity that God has given us as Christians to make a difference in America, in our state, our community, and our neighborhood.

He reminded us that we have to be salt and light in this world and challenged us to pray for America, get involved in our local government, our school board and most importantly, to exercise our right to vote. (https://decisionamericatour.com/pledge/) -- Franklin Graham assured us, he has no hope in politics nor either candidate. He boldly declared our only Hope is in the Lord our God!
Please pray for America and our upcoming elections. (return to top)

Since fire untended ever tends to lose its flame, this week I would look like to look at some of the hindrances to keeping the fire burning fiercely, so that our passion for Jesus Christ could ever increase in its heat and intensity.

In Bible times, when you talked about starting a fire, they did not think about matches and kindling, they relied on a small stone pot full of burning embers. You blew on the embers, stirred them up, and watched as the flames slowly came back to life.

If you feel like your heart has grown cold, it’s time to fan those flames. I have never been a Boy Scout, but if you have ever blown on a hot coal, you know that a roaring fire doesn’t happen instantaneously. Though I thank God for those exciting moments when Holy Spirit fire touches me and kindles something fresh, I never minimize the importance of nurturing the flame, tiny though ti may seem, until it consumes my heart with a passion for Christ again.

SIN is one of the great hindrances to the fire of God in our lives. In 1Corinthians 15:34 Paul says come to your senses and sin no more. My translation, sin is not only stupid, sin is insane. You cannot cover up sin and nurture a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.

NEGLECT is another hindrance. Hebrews 2:3 says, “How we shall escape if we neglect so great salvation.”  How hard is it to neglect something? The truth is neglect, like a waning fire is natural. For this reason we  need to give diligence to prayer, the Word, fellowship and sharing your faith with all of those around you.

COMPROMISE is the third thing I’d like to look at. When everyone at work is going one direction and you know the way that God would have you to go, don’t allow yourself to be seduced into following them. Are you resisting compromise or adjusting to it? Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” We cannot stay connected to the Vine and still follow the culture. James says friendship with the world is enmity with God.

And finally UNFORGIVENESS. We live in a world of betrayal and lies. No matter where I travel, all around the globe, I see a deep father wound and a profound sense of abandonment. The problem is, to nurture our unforgiveness only results in bitterness. Holding onto unforgiveness is like taking poison, hoping it will wound the person that has hurt you. As my wife, Cathy says, “Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.”

When you forgive those that wound you, you make place for God to release his grace in your heart. Forgiving is not saying that what they did to you was right. Forgiveness says I will not allow your actions in the past to control my present or steal my future.
Be on the lookout for these for these flame stealers in your life. Satan, science, self,  and culture are all at work to put out our fire and steal our passion. That is why we need to carefully see the apostle Paul’s words to Timothy. As he said  -- I remind you

I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day- 2Tim 1:12

Don't give up, Stir it UP!

Hurricane Matthew downs a tree on our house
Well... when the local gang guys "tagged" our shed "the Revs,"
(for our habit of prayer walking the neighborhood), local boys said it was for our "protection."-- but apparently that doesn't extend to the torrential battering that followed Hurricane Matthew. Still God's hand was on us- the 60 foot tree that was ripped out by the roots from our neighbor's yard-landed perfectly between my office and the garage. Just 10 feet to the left it would have flattened my office with all of the computers, 20 feet more it would have landed in our bed as we slept! Thank you Jesus!

Folks from our church, Calvary A/G came to our rescue! Once we cleared some of the brush, we saw that the shed with some sound equipment, storage containers and the fence had been crushed. We still have a more cleanup before us.

Please pray for favor, as Allstate, is trying to apply an $11,000 cyclone deductible-even though we we had no hurricane force winds. We will appeal that!

Now we begin to build a new shed, and do the other repairs. Thank you for your prayers.

PRAYER

FOCUS

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) MANILA, PHILIPPINES -Urgent prayer

There is a crisis evolving in the Philippines. There are reports of over 2,500 (and fast increasing) extra-judicial killings by the police and vigilante death squads, in a desire to rid the Philippine society of drug addicts and dealers. There seems to be no interest from the highest office in giving them a trial, much less rehabilitation.

Christian leaders have been contacted by the DILG (Dept of Interior and Local Government) which, as of date, has been inundated by 800,000 addicts turning themselves in for the fear of being killed in this genocidal war on drugs!

In the Philippines, strategic evangelical leaders have been invited to work together with the government and they have requested our assistance to help them to develop an advisory committee. The situation is both massive and extremely urgent. Only a united, expeditious efforts can address this crisis effectively! Young people trapped in drug problems are being wasted by these senseless killings- the blood of many innocents defiling the land (Ps 106:38)!

2) Port au Prince - Haiti

Please pray for Dr. Julio Volce and Haiti Teen Challenge. Hurricane Mathew, the fiercest Caribbean storm in nearly a decade, slammed into Haiti  with 145 mile-per-hour (233 kph) winds and torrential rains that left 1.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. It carved a swath of diestruction and left over 1,000 dead in its wake and still counting. Haiti Teen Challenge is reaching out to impact the the most desperate, through "Haitians Reaching Haitians."

Dr. Julio Volce and Haiti Teen Challenge has assessed the most urgent needs with local partners; in these direct hit areas -families are in dire need of shelter, with over 90% of homes destroyed. Food sources are absolutely gone,

Clean drinking water is a CRITICAL NEED NOW. Without help more people will die....  The people are desperate, hungry, homeless and hopeless.  Radical Islam is using this situation and other types of strategies to attract the youths because they are in a vulnerable position. CLICK HERE for prayer request and mission TEAM opportunities from Dr Volce.

3) Eurasia TC

Please pray as leaders head home from the GTC Eurasia Conference. Approximately 500 leaders gathered from all regions of Russia and eight countries of Eurasia for a Teen Challenge conference. The theme of the conference was “Unleash the Hope.” Dr. Jerry Nance, Phil Hills and Kevin Tyler greatly challenged everyone to put hope within reach of every addict. These GTC leaders were joined by national TC directors from Turkey, Lebanon, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Mongolia.

4) USA-Pray for our Elections

It was a privilege to be a part of the 50 State Decision America Tour prayer rally with Franklin Graham here in Richmond, Virginia. As he stood before the crowd of hundreds and thousands at the capitol steps in Richmond, Rev. Graham led us in a time of prayer of personal and generational repentance as well as repentance for the sins of our nation. Using the prayer of Nehemiah, as a model we all prayed confessing our sin, the sins of our "fathers," the sins of our nation. Text the Word- America to 21777 for an election prayer guide and free digital copy of DECISION magazine which outlines the issues of all parties.

5) Islamabad, Pakistan

Please pray for Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five on death row for her Christian faith. She was arrested some years ago for declaring that Jesus alone is LORD (not Allah). Pakistan’s Supreme Court today postponed the final appeal hearing. Numerous court sessions have been canceled or postponed for years and she has remained on death row. Her husband and children need her at home.

The court didn't hear the argument today. One of the justices, Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman, was recused because he was the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court when the court upheld Mumtaz Qadri's (Governor Suleman Taseer's killer) conviction. The cases are related because, as the Governor of Punjab, he was murdered because he was supporting Asia Bibi.

Her only hope is for a presidential pardon and the Muslims are pressing to stop that. Please pray for a presidential pardon for Asia Bibi and for her security as she waits and protection once she is released. Also for safety and spiritual strength for her family.

Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 115 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in over 32 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet PRACTICAL needs.
