Ora Bridge Construction Update

Click for larger view

Fremont County update on the Ora Bridge project.

"The Ora Bridge Construction project is in process. The Contractor is placing material for the new roadway alignment and future bridge abutment on the east side of the Henry’s Fork and will begin driving the pile for the abutment as soon as April 25th and ending as late as May 10th. The pile driving process involves a diesel hammer which pounds the pile into the ground until the required resistance is achieved. The hammer process will be audible for miles beyond the project. The pile driving operations will occur during normal working hours.

Other scheduled work includes excavation and drilling on the west side of the Henry’s Fork starting as soon as April 23rd and extending into May. This work will include occasional blasting to remove the existing rock at this location. During the blasting operation traffic will be stopped for up to 30 minutes for the safety of the traveling public. The blasting operation will be short in duration and will occur during normal working hours. The blast itself will be audible within a few miles of the Ora Bridge."

HFF's 35th Anniversary:

Thanks to You!

In March and April this year, HFF looked back on some key lessons learned over our history and shared some highlights on social media and through newsletters. During May and June, keep an eye out as HFF reflects on projects and accomplishments made possible by your generous support over these past 35 years. Everything from our youth education programs, fencing and restoration projects, efforts to improve or protect access sites, internship program, research, and monitoring. We will share photos, memories, and information about the impact your generosity has already had on this one-of-a-kind river.

All we do is thanks to you.

South Fork Initiative Takes First Steps Towards Comprehensive Water Quality Monitoring Network

In April, the South Fork Initiative launched the first South Fork water quality monitoring sonde. Located at the Lodge at Palisades Creek, the underwater device will provide high-resolution data on dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, algae, pressure (depth), and conductivity for the upper reach of the South Fork. This data will provide important information on daily, seasonal, and yearly changes in habitat conditions as they relate to changes in flow, reservoir, and climatic conditions.

The SFI plans to install three sondes along the South Fork this year and will continue to build out the water quality monitoring program over the following 2-3 years. A big thank you to the Lodge at Palisades Creek for their assistance installing the first SFI sonde housing on the South Fork.

Thank You for Making 2019 Idaho Gives A Success

We would like to offer a big thank you to our supportive members for their generous donations on Idaho's day of giving.

We raised over $41,000!

We were able to utilize the entire match generously given by members of the HFF Board of Directors!  Your Idaho Gives gifts have been essential to HFF's new Farms and Fish Program.  This support is what allows us to continue to conserve, protect, and restore the legendary wild trout of the Henry’s Fork.

It is because of you, our generous donors, that the wild trout of the Henry's Fork continue to thrive.

Roadside Clean Up

The Henry's Fork Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with our 2019 Spring Roadside Cleanup, scheduled for Friday, May 24. We will meet at Elk Creek Station in Island Park at 9:30 am and plan for the cleanup to take between 2-3 hours. HFF will bring trash bags, spare gloves, and plenty of water. We ask volunteers to bring gloves and appropriate dress for a May Island Park morning. Email to volunteer or for more information.
