One Worship Service This Sunday
Join us in the Sanctuary at 10:00 am
as we say good bye to Joy Parker

Seven years ago to the day this Sunday, Joy Parker delivered her first sermon here at Brecksville United Methodist Church.  This Sunday, she'll deliver her last as our Director of Outreach and Development.  The service will include beautiful music, Joy's message In This Together, communion, and the commissioning of two mission teams.  You won't want to miss this very special service!

Sunday's Scripture Readings: Romans 6:12-23 and Matthew 10:40-42

Farewell Reception After the Service
Join us after the service on Sunday as we celebrate Joy’s ten years of ministry with our church family with a reception in Fellowship Hall.  The Staff Parish Relations Committee and the Music & Worship Board have planned a menu featuring two beautiful cakes, finger sandwiches, pasta salads and more.  Let's surround Joy with love as she moves on to new ministries.

Love Offering.  We are collecting a love offering for Joy in support of the Liberian Initiative for Technology in Education (The LITE Project), a project inspired by Joy's first trip to Liberia. Other members of our church family have also been involved in this wonderful project which will make a real difference in the lives of students in Liberia.  If you would like to contribute, please mark your gift "love offering."  Checks made payable to BUMC.

When Joy travels to Liberia with our Volunteers in Mission team, she and Michael Lee will stay on to install a computer lab at W. P. L. Brumskine United Methodist School in Grand Bassa County.  Read more about the LITE Project here...

Commissioning Liberia/Reach Out Teams
Also on Sunday, we will commission two mission teams to be sent out from our church into the world! Several youth will be joining Dana & Jamie Schwendeman at Lakeside for Camp Reachout. This camp, sponsored by the East Ohio UMC, takes place at Lakeside and sends students and leaders out into the community to be in service during the week. We are also sending a team of 9 individuals to Liberia for 2 weeks at Camphor Mission, in Grand Bassa County. The team will teach an enhanced Vacation Bible School program that includes Scripture, stories, English and writing, Science and Mathematics activities. BOTH of these wonderful teams will be commissioned during our 10:00 worship service on July 2.

Special Meeting
There will be a Special Church Council Meeting at 9 AM this Sunday to be held in the Parlor. Despite their very best efforts to stay within the previously authorized Planned Expense Fund (PEF) amount for 2017, the Trustees need to seek additional approval for expenditures from the PEF. These regard safety, damage repair and damage prevention issues. Additional detail and explanations will be sent by Kristi Eberhardt in the next two days so you can be fully prepared for a meaningful discussion.

Recycle Paper. Fight Hunger!   The numbers are in.  In April we recycled 5,993 pounds of paper at Brecksville UMC, earning $93 for our hunger ministry.  That's terrific, but believe it or not, it's about 1,000 pounds less than we recycled in March.  Can we do better? Tell your friends! "If it's paper, bring it to the bin!"
