Dear friends,

We’ve had another great week beginning with Mother’s Day. At the Jewish Home at Rockleigh we had music in the afternoon and all of the ladies received red carnations. At Jewish Home Assisted Living, we had great entertainment and a dessert buffet and all the ladies were sporting lovely corsages.

In addition to being Mother’s Day, it was also the day of the annual Rubin run at the JCC. A Jewish Home Family team of close to 50 participants, both staff and family members, turned out to take part in a variety of events, from walking to running. Our team spirit was on full display as we came together for a morning of fun and fitness.

One major highlight of the week was our annual musical production at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh. This year we saluted Rodgers and Hammerstein with a wonderful performance of “Oklahoma!” We had a full house for each of the two shows with standing ovations at both! The musical production features our wonderful and talented residents and is made possible through the dedicated and endlessly creative staff in Activities. Tracey Couliboly and her team not only put the show together but they transform Social Hall I into a set that is extraordinary! If you missed this year’s production, make sure you watch for next year’s! (click here to watch the recorded livestream (better sound) or here to watch on YouTube (more close-ups) )

In other highlights around the Jewish Home Family, the Gallen Day Center celebrated National Apple Pie Day with a pie eating contest! Not only was it delicious, it was fun to cheer on the contestants! We also had wonderful programming to prepare for Shavuot. In the Gallen Center, Rabbi Feld led an educational program. At Jewish Home Assisted Living, our mashgiach Avi Feld baked cheese danishes with the residents.

We have various events planned around the upcoming “royal wedding” with lots of interest in the customs, the pomp and, of course, the bridal gown!

All the best,
