Mission365 heads into Spring with another month of new partnerships, events and exciting community projects.

Over 75 veterans, teachers, students and community partners came out to support Run as One, a collaborative effort between The Mission Continues, Team Red, White and Blue, and Team Rubicon, for a 5K run and volunteer event at Edison High School. We sanded and painted a 250 yard long fence and windows, along with cleaning out the overgrowth, trash and weeds from a beautiful pond in front of the school. Warm thanks to all of our supporting partners including Mission BBQ, who provided a delicious post event lunch.

Do you have a project that you believe the Mission365 program could lend it's support to? Feel free to reach out to us at or (215) 851-1808.

Dear --FNAME--,

Last week, former President Obama led a forum with young people at the University of Chicago on the importance of public service and civic activism. Watching this event, with a panel of mostly Chicago-area college students, I thought back to the beginning of the Obama presidency in 2009 when he signed into law the bi-partisan Edward M. Kennedy Service America Act to promote expanded volunteer service and civic engagement. He said at that bill signing, “We need your service right now, at this moment in history. I’m not going to tell you what your role should be. That’s for you to discover. But I’m asking you to stand up and play your part. I’m asking you to help change history’s course.”

During last week’s forum, President Obama said, "This community taught me that ordinary people, when working together, can do extraordinary things."

Our work at Global Citizen is inspired by the testimonials and commitment of young people, who have become empowered to make a difference in the lives of others, and consequently, their own.

There are always opportunities to serve locally. Global Citizen will take part this month in the Philadelphia Department of Parks & Recreation's citywide kickoff service day for Love Your Park Week 2017.

Our partner, On The Table Philly, will be hosting mealtime conversations in which residents will gather, foster relationships, and inspire solutions to strengthen our communities.

We also invite you to join our partners at the American Lung Association, Philadelphia READS and Philadelphia FIGHT, who will be hosting a variety of volunteer opportunities and events this month.

We continue to host our Neighbors in Action series that highlights best practices for civic engagement through service and other activities to address community needs. Join us in May for a Neighbors in Action workshop.
