Resolution Information for 2017 Assembly
One avenue of access for congregations, conferences, synod organizational units and voting members to address issues and propose a plan for action is the resolution. Resolutions help organize the work of the assembly by clarifying important issues or concerns. Resolutions are first reviewed by the Reference and Counsel Committee, which will make recommendations to the assembly to facilitate its work, but the resolutions belong to the assembly and may be amended, rejected, or adopted after consideration by the voting members. Resolutions may be submitted until 45 days prior to the first day the assembly meets. For the 2017 Synod Assembly, resolutions must be in the synod office by April 4, 2017. Please read the Writing a Resolution Guide 2017 which can be found by clicking the button below.

Lutheran Day on the Hill
Mark your calendars and plan to join a group of passionate advocates on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, for Lutheran Day on the Hill and make a difference for tens of thousands of Iowans. Your legislators want and need to hear from you about critical human services.

Lutheran Day on the Hill gives you the opportunity to share your voice with your legislators. As in years past, participants will be given information about important issues before the legislature and will be given suggestions about how best to visit with them concerning what is most important to you. The day will begin at 9:30 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Chruch before moving to the Statehouse.

Chartered buses offered at no cost to attendees will be stopping in Iowa City and Newton. Online registrations is available by clicking the link below. With additional information provided on that site.

This event has been made possible in part through a grant from ELCA World Hunger. Lutheran Services in Iowa is proud to be a partner in Lutheran Day on the Hill with the three Iowa Synods of the ELCA.

Congregation Report Forms
2016 Congregation Report Forms were mailed to congregations the week of December 12. We encourage all congregations to file online. Built in calculators make it easier for the person in your congregation who is completing the form, and it saves time for synod and churchwide staff who must enter forms that are hand written. Online forms can be found by clicking the button below. You will need your Congregation ID number and Password (found in the upper corner of the mailed copy). The Synod Center for Ministry has a copy of the passwords if needed. We anticipate that online filing for 2016 will open on January 11. Completed forms must be submitted by February 15, 2017.

Rooted: Youth Event
Summer 2017

Power and wisdom are sometimes confusing for us, especially in our current culture. We ask God to help us better understand humility, the nature of wisdom and true strength as exemplified by the teachings, example and sacrifice of Jesus.
