Pick Your Own Strawberries Every Day!
Stop in the market to pick up picking containers and head out to the field! The strawberry field is open 8-6 every day until they are gone!

Tips for Storing Strawberries
If you can't eat them right away, store strawberries in the refrigerator whole and unwashed in a plastic bag until ready for use.
Tips for Preparing
Rinse strawberries thoroughly under cool running water and "hull" them by removing the stem, leafy cap, and white core. There are small devices for doing this (you can find one in the market), and

Mj likes to use the straw method. I use my thumb.
Freezing and Preserving
Freezing strawberries in bulk at peak season is the best ways to preserve their taste, if not their texture.  Hull them and freeze them individually on a cookie sheet, then transfer them a freezer bag.  They should last for 10-12 months in the freezer.  This recipe for strawberry syrup is easy and tastes great on pancakes or vanilla ice cream.

 Strawberry Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound strawberries, hulled, quartered
¾ cup sugar
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation
Bring strawberries, sugar, and ¼ cup water to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer, skimming occasionally, until strawberries are soft and fragrant, about 10 minutes
Remove from heat and add vanilla
Let cool completely, at least 1 hour
Strain strawberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a small bowl, pressing strawberries to extract as much juice as possible
Discard solids and chill syrup at least 1 hour
