One of the top changes in Alabama’s Underground Damage Law effective January 1, 2020, is when to contact Alabama 811 with a locate request for all excavation and demolition activities.
The new law requires that excavators contact Alabama 811 two (2) Full Working Days, not counting the day of notification.

The Notice Calendar below shows examples of when an excavator should be able to begin excavation activities depending on the day of the week that notice is given as well as any holidays that may fall within the two working day period.  This does not apply to survey/design requests that have a 5 working day notice.
