Taizé, France Comes to San Marcos, Texas
April 7, 5:30 p.m.

The Taizé Community is an ecumenical Christian monastic fraternity in Taizé, France.
It is composed of more than one hundred brothers from Catholic and Protestant traditions who originate from about thirty countries across the world. Their particular gift is worship with short, repetitive songs, the words usually pieces of scripture.  To worship in the Taizé tradition is to experience peaceful prayer and centering on Christ and his message of compassion and mercy.  Join us at 5:30 on April 7th for a worship experience you won't forget.
"In the night in which he was betrayed," we hear so often, but seldom stop to remember that night and its significance. To be rooted in Jesus requires knowing something of the Jewish tradition in which he was rooted.  Join us for this night of feasting and education as we learn something of our Eucharist's origins and in the process reaffirm the worth and dignity of all human beings.  The event is free, but reservations are required.  Email christchapel@txstate.edu if you plan to attend, or call 512-557-8836.  Space is limited to 40.
Bread + Belonging Schedule for March and April

Every Wednesday starts with fresh baked bread at 5:30, followed by a 30-45 minute experiential worship service that varies each week.  Our schedule through April:

March 27: Taizé Evening Prayer - "Practice" for the big event on April 7th (see above).

April 3: Evening Prayer with a Professor - Dr. Bob Fischer, Department of Modern Languages, will join us to speak on how his confession of faith affects his profession.

April 10: Lectio Divina - Learn this ancient practice of listening to and being shaped by Scripture.

April 17: Stations of the Cross - We will take a field trip to First Christian Church for a walk through the Texas Hill Country and their Stations of the Cross.

April 24: Denim Day - Wear jeans that day and learn about this day's significance and what we as Christians can do to address issues of sexual violence.
Border Trip: April 30-31.  We've heard so much about "The Wall" on our southern border, but do we really understand the human and environmental costs of that wall?  Join Christ Chapel as we travel for an overnight trip to Mission Texas, where we will tour parts of the wall and learn from experts on the ground and from our own Susan Hanson of exactly what is at stake.  More details to follow, but the group size will be limited, so let your interest be made known early.

Game Night: March 29, 7:00 p.m.  Games, snacks, more games, more snacks.  Bring a game and snack to share, or just plan on the kindness and game choices of friends. Same thing again on April 26th.

Dinner after Worship: March 31st, 6:30.  Join us for supper after worship, provided by the wonderful women of First Lutheran Church.  April 28th, also!

Easter Worship: April 21st, 5:30 p.m.  Bring a friend!
