> 5 Crucial Steps to Planning Your Remodel
Check out the steps you should consider when planning your next remodel.
Sometimes it's the little things that really make a project. The tiny details that have been thoroughly thought out by our design & building team but at times get lost in a photo or are never seen at all. Hence this segment was born; a place to highlight the details and make us all have a greater appreciation for the little things!

Award Winning Hingham Addition & Kitchen Remodel

This Family of four was able to get several items on their wish list through this one renovation. Their existing Colonial with a 2 car garage under lacked a proper formal front entry and a functional entry from the garage. Additionally, their small segregated kitchen didn't suit their family or entertaining style.

The new addition includes a new 2 car garage with attached mudroom, an expansive family room that flows beautifully to their newly expanded kitchen & pantry. The front foyer was also enlarged,  a home office added and custom details now abound throughout the home. A coffered ceiling in the newly renovated kitchen, crown molding & wainscoting in the expanded front foyer and custom built-ins in both the family room & mudroom.

The client had this to say about working with us:

"I wish every business operated with this level of  efficiency, professionalism and expertise. From start to finish, and every step in between, Thorson was A+. We had no issues to worry about and felt confident with all of their recommendations. They were honest and worked very hard to exceed (not just meet) our expectations on timing, quality, communications and budget. No one ever says they "loved" their Builder -but we truly did! We can't recommend them highly enough."

The Staff attended Eastern Mass NARI's Evening of Excellence on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at the Clarke Showroom in Milford, MA. NARI Celebrates excellence in the Remodeling industry by recognizing companies that exhibit high levels of craftsmanship, professionalism & customer service. It was a memorable evening where Thorson took away multiple Contractor of the Year Awards in three different categories:

Delaney McCartney turns 1

You may recall that it was around this time last year that Jared's daughter Delaney was born and surprised everyone by arriving a whole month early!
She went from a tiny 4lb preemie to her cute little one year old self. She celebrated her first birthday on March 9th and she and her Mom & Dad are settling nicely into their new home. Jared & Christina say she is a super happy, lovable, talkative little girl and is almost walking on her own!
Andrew Thorson is College Bound!
Andrew Thorson just celebrated his 18th birthday on April 11th and will be graduating from Bridgewater Raynham High School this spring.  He's shown here sporting his new college attire. Andrew has decided to attend Bryant University in Smithfield Rhode Island in their business program this fall.
Eric & Stacy are very proud of and happy for Andrew as he embarks on the next chapter of his life!
The Pocket Door
                                                                  Photos by Kyle J. Caldwell
What better detail to feature in our new segment than one that by nature is meant to be out of sight; the pocket door! This door style has been used for centuries and it's benefits are still as useful today as they were 100 years ago.

Pocket doors are framed to slide into a "pocket" in the wall when not in use. Unlike a normal door they require zero clearance around them for operation which makes them ideal for small and tight spaces.

The doors pictured above and to the left are from our featured Hingham Addition project and were used in two areas where space was at a premium; the pantry and a small office just off of a main hallway. Both areas would have sacrificed a lot of space by using a traditional door and both are spaces that require closing off for either sound control or to conceal messy kitchen prep.

The sometimes overlooked pocket door was the perfect solution to this space & design dilemma, and thankfully they look pretty nice too!

This light and fresh Spring recipe was recommended by lead carpenter Bob and his wife Monica. With Less than 5 ingredients it's a snap to prepare but offers a great balance of flavors from the sweet pineapple to the zesty lime and fresh crisp cucumber. BBQ season is approaching fast and this salad would be the perfect addition to any spring or summer gathering!
