I am so glad that you are part of this community. In a time of global uncertainty, you continue to make a difference within your organizations and communities… helping to change the world one Board at a time … building excellence in governance!
GOVERN for IMPACT shares your commitment and enthusiasm to making a positive impact as we continue to build the capacity to support your governance work in these unique and challenging times. Governing Boards do have the positive power to influence business and human effort to make the world better in an ethical and prudent matter.
In 2020, thanks to the engagement of so many leaders, we have:
• Prepared for publishing the first issue of “The International Journal of Governance
Excellence”, highlighting the exciting results of our pre-pilot research.
• Hosting our highly successful, first ever, very interactive conference.
• Provided three talented young professional future leaders with scholarships to attend
our first ever virtual conference.
• Launch a fourth cohort of students who joined the Policy Governance Professional
(PGP) Program, and so much more.
Today, the need for excellence in governance is perhaps more pressing than ever. We are determined to raise the profile of governance through ongoing advocacy efforts, expanding our research agenda, and continuing to deliver the highest quality of educational programs, while purposefully engaging our younger generation who are focused on creating a better future for us all.
There are so many ways for you to be engaged in GOVERN. If you are not very involved, you will find a warm, knowledgeable, and sharing group of people. GOVERN stands for accountable, purpose focused, and owner informed governance. We stand for having a positive influence in the world, for building social justice, and for continuing to improve.
I wish for you a peaceful holiday season; a quiet, safe time with your immediate loved ones, and a strength to find joy in the middle of challenge. Please be safe, wash your hands, and wear your masks… it’s not just your life, it is the lives of others.
Here is a brief poem that has really helped me reflect this season:
Christmas Gift Suggestions
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

Best Wishes and Hopes for You
