The New Jersey Highlands Coalition is the first line of defense when it comes to standing up for the natural and cultural resources in the Highlands - but we can't do it alone!

Will you help us keep up this work in 2019?

We all have a right to clean air, pure water, and a healthy environment, and we have a responsibility to keep our environments healthy for our children and future generations.

Back in 2004 the State of New Jersey recognized the value of the Highlands Region and its contribution to New Jersey's water supply when the legislature passed the New JerseyHighlands Water Protection and Planning Act.  The Act wrote into law protections for the Region's resources, and regulated development in ecologically sensitive areas areas.

Today, the Act is implemented through the Highlands Regional Master Plan – a blueprint for sustainable development throughout the region. However, there is constant pressure to unravel these regulations by various, powerful interest groups, who see only short-term gain.

Together, we must remain vigilant and work to oppose bad initiatives with negative environmental impacts that jeopardize the beautiful places we love and the resources we depend upon.

The Coalition continues to push for sound public policy in the State regarding water conservation, climate change mitigation, reducing pollution and promoting sustainable development throughout the New Jersey Highlands.

Your donation helps the Coalition focus on fighting misguided initiatives that would erode the Highlands rich ecosystems, forests and historic sites, and work to ensure that the DEP, and other governing bodies, are able to manage the region according to the best ecological principles.

Because of you, the Coalition can meet these challenges head on, ensuring the best possible outcome for Highlands Communities and the 6.2 million people who depend on Highlands Water!

Contributions from supporters such as you are New Jersey Highlands Coalition’s largest source of funding and ensure that the Coalition has the resources to continue to be your voice speaking up for the NJ Highlands in the year to come.

Thank you all for your continued support!
