Welcome to this week's E-lijah
Elijah for September 6, 2019
Mazal tov to all our students who are back at school.  This semester TBM says mazal tov to our students who are spending a semester in Israel, our new college students, high school and middle school students and, of course, a special mazal tov to the parents and children of those who are walking into school for the first time!  May you all have a successful and wonderful year of learning and friendship!
Adult Education Opportunities Resumes!

The summer is over and we have come back from camp, vacations, beach days, and so forth and are ready to face a new year with lots of learning.  The Adult Education opportunities are plentiful this year, as always, and, of course, everyone is invited and welcomed to learn with us.

  • Talmud Study: Every day there is Religious School: Sundays 8 am.  Resumes September 8

  • Theology: Pirke Avot: Wednesdays 10 am.  Resumes September 4

  • Torah Study: Every Saturday (when there is no bar/bat mitzvah) 10 am.  Resumes September 7
Mazal Tov, Alex Preston!
Mazal tov to Alex Preston who will become bat mitzvah on September 14 at 10am.  Mazal tov to Tara, her mom and Richard, her dad and her grandparents Sherri and Frank Esposito on this wonderful occasion.

Alex loves to play basketball, go to the beach, surf and, for her Kishrei HaLev project she cleaned up the beach at Breakwater Beach Club.  Alex is very excited for her bat mitzvah and is looking forward to being with her family and friends.

Everyone is welcome to worship with Alex and her family on this joyous event.
Exciting Religious School News

Principal Stella Stanway has an amazing staff this year!  The teachers are all committed to your child's positive Jewish identity, Jewish knowledge and sense of joyous community.

Did you know:
  • Religious School is only one day a week from now on?  Sundays from 9-12 only

  • You do not need to join TBM until your child is in Grade 3?  We hope you do, of course, but until Grade 3, you just have to sign up for school.

  • If you join the temple, you pay only $900 for the first year (good until December 2020 if you join today) and the first year of school is free for EVERYONE in the family.

  • Regular tuition is now only $300/child per year
Selichot is the official beginning of the Days of Awe period.  You are invited to join Rabbi and Stella Stanway at their home on September 21 at 7 PM as we share a meal together, courtesy of Stella Stanway, share a bonfire, have a short service of reflection with Rabbi Stanway and Cantor Camhi and share our hopes and visions for 5780.  Everyone is invited.  Call the temple for the Rabbi's address at 732-222-3754.
Family Affair is reaching out to all of our Temple Beth Miriam congregants to make sure that any member who has difficulty with transportation for the High Holidays, will be helped with a ride.

Any congregants in need of transportation, or volunteers who would like to provide a ride, please contact Lori Goldstein at lgoldstein83@verizon.net, or the Temple office by September 23rd. Please specify Erev Rosh Hashana, Rosh Hashana morning, Erev Yom Kippur, Yom Kippur morning or afternoon.
