HPN CALL SHEET
January 6, 2020
Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
|
|
|
|
|
Dear HPN members,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope that you had a joyous Christmas season and a wonderful New Year’s celebration with your families. This year truly brought us all together in a more peaceful, restful time with our loved ones and for that we are grateful.
Also, welcome to HPN’s 20th Anniversary year! We started in August of 2001, so 2021 is a big year for us! Let’s start the year praising God for His faithfulness and pray with great expectation that He is going to do miraculous things in our industry!

New Year's Eve Celebrations
Let’s praise God for a New Year, and let’s celebrate the amazing creativity of everyone involved in adapting New Year’s Eve celebrations from the quiet of our own homes to the almost empty streets of Times Square. This year revealed the amazing perseverance and resourcefulness of the entertainment industry.

Rose Parade
We praise God for the power of prayer, even in the face of change. The annual New Year’s Day Rose Parade was cancelled for only the fourth time in its 130 year history, since 1891! (The three previous cancellations were all during World War II.) But this year, in the early morning of January 1st, an HPN member led 24 Christians down the 5.5 mile empty Rose Parade route in Pasadena for a two-hour powerful prayer walk. Christians are making an eternal difference during the coronavirus.

Chip and Joanna Gaines
We are praising God for the growing number of believers who are offering quality TV programming across the globe. This week we are celebrating Chip and Joanna Gaines from Waco, Texas, who have been the successful hosts of the HGTV popular series, Fixer Upper. They are solid believers who are bold in their faith and generous to their hometown of Waco. As they continue to grow their influence with more programming and now their own network, please pray for them and their expanding influence and creativity.

Julie Chen Moovnes
Let’s thank the Lord for Julie Chen Moovnes, who is a TV personality and the wife of former NBC TV Executive, Les Moonves. Julie is strong in her faith and is making an eternal impact in her work and life. She has gone through hard times, as so many industry professionals do, but she has not let go of the Lord and is an inspiration to many young female professionals.

Lori Loughlin
We are thankful that actress Lori Loughlin has served her term in prison for the USC tuition scandal and we want you to continue to pray for her and her family as her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, is still serving his prison term. Let’s pray for Lori, Mossimo, and their children as they rebuild their lives. They have shown vulnerable, repentant hearts and so we’re praying that what they’ve gone through will be used for good in their lives and in the lives of the people around them.

Diversity & Inclusion in Animation
With the growing diversity and inclusion efforts in Hollywood, there is still little representation of people of color and women in the animation space. Let’s pray over the animation directors interviewed in this article, as well as pray that God would open up more opportunities for people of color and women to create family animation projects. And let’s pray that ultimately, children can see God’s beautiful diversity reflected in the shows they watch.

Production in Southern California
As you may have heard, rising COVID numbers in Los Angeles have prompted decision-makers to pause in-person production in Southern California. Let’s pray that God would heal those currently in the hospitals and grant discernment for when production can safely resume. This is another blow to industry professionals, but we trust that God is in control and He is our provider.

|
John Mulaney
Please join us in prayer for comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney, who voluntarily checked into rehab for alcohol and cocaine abuse last week. Let’s pray that God brings total healing to John, who has struggled with substance abuse since the age of 13 and has been open about how hard the COVID-19 shutdown has been for him.

|
|
|
Thank you for praying with us as we all begin 2021. We look forward to the year ahead and know that God is going to continue to do miraculous things in our industry and in the lives of Hollywood professionals!
With love,
Karen, Kaelyn, Kim and Danae

DEVOTIONAL:
Oh, how complicated and stressful our lives can be! Yet God tells us He wants us to live simpler, more peaceful lives. He MAKES us lie down in green pastures, which shows we’re not very good at it on our own. Let’s spend this week seeking simplicity in our lives and be free of the things that are weighing us down. He’s offering us a simple life. Let’s accept it!
