Question Of The Week
Question: "I'm paying for high speed Internet but it seems to me my speed isn't all that great. How can I check it?"
Answer: From time to time, we find customers have been paying for a fast Internet connection but they aren't actually getting the speed they bought. So, I'll show you how to check your speed but, please read all these "notes" first:
- Regardless of how you connect to the Internet, Internet speed varies throughout the day (and night).
- Because the Internet speed varies, you should always check the speed at a variety of times during the day (or night).
- Keep a record of the dates and times you check the speed before you call to complain to your ISP.
- If you have a separate router, slow speed might be caused by the router itself and not the line coming into your modem.
- When you go to the page I'm going to give you, be sure you don't click on any of the ads. You want to wait until you see "Begin Test" and then click there.
- Your Download speed should always be higher than your Upload speed.
