The seed of God is in us.
Given an intelligent
and hardworking farmer,
it will thrive and grow
up into God, whose seed
it is; and accordingly its
fruits will be God-nature.
Pear seeds grow into
pear trees, nut seeds
into nut trees, and
God seeds into God.
- Meister Eckhart

Worship with us this Sunday!
SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE
8:30 Worship on the Lawn. 10:00 Worship in the Sanctuary.

Add some spirit to your weekend - start your Sunday with worship!  Join us on the lawn at 8:30 am for Worship on the Lawn, our casual, come-as-you-are service which includes all the important elements of worship under the shade of the trees.  We have folding chairs, but if you prefer, bring a camp chair or spread a blanket on the ground. Kids are always welcome, and nursery care is available during the service, too.

If you prefer to sleep in, join us at 10 am for worship in the air conditioned comfort of the Sanctuary.  The praise band will lead our singing, and are mixing in some familiar favorite old songs with some more contemporary ones. (Click the link below to hear Sunday's selections!) Our children's church program, Sprouts, takes place after the Children's Moment of this service.  Nursery care is available during the service, as well.

The Men's Ensemble will lift their voices in song at both services, too! Hope to see you all on Sunday morning!

Enjoy this thought provoking poem, based on Sunday's scripture: Mark 4: 26-34
"On the Parables of the Mustard Seed" a beautiful poem by Denise Levertov

It's also Father's Day! Do you know that the holiday has Methodist roots?  (Read about them here.)

Sunday's Message:  Do I Have To?
Sunday's Scriptures: 1 Samuel 15:34 – 16:3 and Mark 4: 26 - 34
Sunday's Announcements:  Read them here!
Sunday's Music:  Click here for a playlist of songs for the services.

SUMMER BOOK CLUB, TOMORROW NIGHT!
Join Jenny Gee and friends as we discuss The Great Spiritual Migration by Brian McClaren on Friday, June 15 at 7 pm on the church lawn!  Need a copy?  There are several available to borrow in the church lobby.  McClaren argues that the Christian story, from Genesis until now, is fundamentally about people on the move—outgrowing old, broken religious systems and embracing new, more redemptive ways of life and that it's time to move again.  Even if you haven't finished (or started) the book, you are welcome to join the discussion!  Questions? Reach out to Jenny: education@brecksvilleumc.com

The word liturgy comes from the Greek meaning “work of the people”.   Are you feeling the call to become more involved in worship and the work of the people? As a liturgist, you will lead the Call to Worship, and read the first scripture, the offertory invitation and the offertory prayer.  These readings are prepared for you by Pastor Clark and sent to you early in the week before you serve.  Everyone is encouraged to participate! If you have concerns about pronunciations, Pastor Clark is happy to help. Liturgists needed at the 10 o'clock service on June 24, July 8, July 22, August 12, August 19, and August 26.

An invitation from Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church
You are invited to attend "Art Connections 2018", an art exhibit that we've created to highlight the talents and gifts God has given us, and encourage appreciation of those gifts.
