The GRRAND Affair presented by the Sam Swope Family Foundation will be held on Friday, November 3, at the Frazier History Museum in Louisville. Proceeds from this event are responsible for the overwhelming majority of GRRAND’s annual operating budget to rescue and treat Goldens and other needy dogs.  Here are three ways you can help support the 2017 GRRAND Affair to ensure its success.

The GRRAND Affair Sponsorship Drive is one of the leading fundraising endeavors annually that aid in providing funds necessary to fulfill our mission to rescue and rehabilitate the more than 200 dogs GRRAND takes into its program each year.  Watch your mailbox, as the Sponsorship Packets have been mailed and should be arriving this week!

Sponsorships begin at $250 and go up to $7,500.  Each level provides increasing benefits, including tickets to the event and logo/name displays.  Please review our Sponsorship Package to select a sponsorship level right for you.  You can then complete the Sponsorship Form on Page 5 and return it via mail, or you can purchase a Sponsorship online at GRRAND’s Giving Center

The GRRAND Affair committee is now accepting donations for the live and silent auctions.  Please contact Rachel Swope at if you have an item that would make a great addition to GRRAND’s auction. We could use gift cards, baskets, tickets to sporting events, vacation packages, artwork, jewelry, etc.  If you have an idea, please reach out to Rachel Swope, and we can arrange to pick up your donation.

This year GRRAND will be raffling a chance to win a $2,500 cash prize.  Raffle Tickets are only $25 each, and you do not need to be present to win!  Purchase your $25 Raffle Tickets now.  The winner will be announced at the GRRAND Affair on November 3.

Medical Donations / Immediate Foster or Adoptive Home in Louisville needed for June
My name is June and I’m a very sweet, beautiful 6 month old Golden Retriever who needs your help! I was adopted as a puppy with my litter mate into a loving home, but when I started having mobility issues, my family took me to the vet and they were told that I have severe hip dysplasia and will need surgery for both hips. My family was crushed and couldn’t afford my surgery. They contacted my breeder and the response was that I should be euthanized. I love life and really want to get better, so my family contacted GRRAND and asked if they could help. GRRAND has taken me in and my records have been forwarded to an orthopedic specialist in Louisville. He has responded to GRRAND that I will need surgery on both hips and this needs to be done simultaneously! The cost of my surgery will be approximately $5,000!!!
GRRAND is looking for donations to help pay for my medical care, but they are also looking for an immediate foster or adoptive home in Louisville that could take me in and see me through my recovery.
Checks can be mailed to GRRAND, with "June" in the memo line to
PO Box 6132
Louisville, KY 40206

I will need someone who will be home more than the working family, someone without young children or an active dog who can help me as I recover, and someone willing to take me to follow-up vet visits as I progress in the healing process. Please consider contributing to my surgeries so I can get well soon and be on my way to a healthy life! If you could be interested in taking me in to help me over the next several months, please contact Diane Knego (502-558-6873).

Parker is a goofy and loveable Golden Retriever mix who is looking for his perfect fit! Parker is as sweet as can be, and will be a very loyal companion for his future family. He is a very special boy who will need a special person in his life – someone who will provide him with structure, consistency, and boundaries. Parker loves other dogs, and has a lot of energy to run, love, and play. He is incredibly intelligent, always up for a challenge, and would be an excellent candidate for agility training. Parker needs a self assured and experience dog owner, who is willing to continue working with him on his training in order for him to be the best dog he can be. Are you a great match for this sweet little dynamo? If you are interested in helping Parker please contact Diane Knego at or 502-558-6873.

GRRAND is seeking a special foster home for our striking blond gentleman, Otis. We realized shortly after he came to us that Otis was in a great deal of pain and would exhibit some not so golden behavior because of that. It turns out he has severe bilateral hip dysplasia and to compound matters he was also a good 20 pounds overweight, so every waking moment or movement would cause him pain. In his previous home, the children would push, shove, and jump on him, making matters worse.

Otis is currently on a strict diet to loose the extra poundage and ease the demand on his joints and is also on pain management. He has turned into a different boy in his temporary foster home with a trainer. He is a big puddle of love and always wants to have your attention, and despite his hips, he will follow you around. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and is trustworthy in the home.
Otis is ready to graduate to the next level of care and work on continuing weight loss. He would not be suitable for a home that has children or grandchildren that visit. Please get in touch with Diane Knego, our foster care coordinator, at 502-558-6873 or for more details.

Max and Mollie are a very bonded and super sweet pair are so sweet and loving and are looking for their family! They have that lovely Golden nature and temperament about them and look forward to their afternoon strolls outside. They walk well on leash and like to play with their toys and balls and especially be with people! They are needing a forever home ASAP. So as we are still learning about these two, maybe you can open up your hearts and home to them to help give them the good life they so deserve!

Please get in touch with Diane Knego, our foster care coordinator, at 502-558-6873 or for more details.
