DELAND, FL – May 28, 2020 – The Museum of Art – DeLand  announces Call for Entries to the 2020 Poetic Visions Contest

Poets of all ages are invited to participate in the 2020 Poetic Visions poetry contest, a joint project of The Museum of Art DeLand, Creative Happiness Institute, and MainStreet Art & Culture Slam of DeLand.

Participants may submit up to three poems that are inspired by one or more of 34 selected pieces from the Museum’s permanent collection. Images of the artwork, along with specific requirements for participation, poem format, and submission, can be found on the Museum website at  Poems must be submitted by July 3rd and entry is free of charge.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of five and one poem will be selected to represent each of the 34 artworks. Winners will be selected by votes from Museum visitors, who will be able to read the poems alongside the companion artwork. 

The exhibit will open August 21 at Museum of Art DeLand’s 600 N. Woodland Blvd. gallery and public voting will continue through October 4.  Authors of the poems with the top three vote totals will receive cash awards and all poems are eligible to be published in the Poetic Visions 2020 anthology.
