Tour de Coop (Saturday)
Now in its 4th year, this event is a self-guided tour that allows a close-up look at several backyard chicken coops in McKinney's historic neighborhood. The tour promotes sustainability by presenting the benefits and joys of owning your own flock and creating a backyard chicken set-up. Proceeds benefit the Historic McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square. Pre-order tickets, $8 (until midnight on April 29); $10 day of event. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Starts at the Farmers Market at Chestnut Square, 315 S. Chestnut St.
Yappy Hour (Thursday)
This event benefits Canine Companions for Independence. Free admission, with a portion of the proceeds from food and beverage sales being donated to this non-profit organization that provides highly-trained service dogs for people with disabilities. 5:30-8 p.m. At TUPPS Brewery 721 Anderson (located at the McKinney Cotton Mill)
A Comedy of Errors (Friday-Sunday)
The McKinney Repertory Theatre's Young Actors Guild presents this classic Shakespearean play. Friday-Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 2:30 p.m. $12, adults; $8, children, seniors; $6 for YAG members. At McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee.
Family Canoe Try-In (Saturday)
Experience the amazing diversity in wetland vegetation and wildlife while learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. After a safety and canoeing introduction, spend about 40 minutes on a guided trail around the Heard wetlands, followed by free paddle time to explore on your own. Pre-registration required. 1-4 p.m. Check the website in the case of inclement weather.
Performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m. with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Continues next weekend. At the Church Street Auditorium, 306 N. Church. General seating tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. (Front row seats, $20.) 
Classics on the Square (Saturday)
Morning Maniacs gather with their classic cars around the downtown square. While you're downtown, enjoy some breakfast and stick around to do a little shopping. 7:30-10:30 a.m.
McKinney YMCA Healthy Kids Day (Saturday)
Bounce houses, entertainment, vendors, Texas Legends Basketball, face painting, healthy food, games & more. and giveaways. At the McKinney YMCA. 300 Ridge Rd. Free. 9 a.m.-noon. All ages welcome!
