WASHINGTON, DC, February 05, 2019 - The National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry (NCSEJ) congratulates Elan Carr on his appointment to the position of the U.S. State Department Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism.
Established by the Global Anti-Semitism Review Act of 2004, the Special Envoy ensures the United States’ global leadership in the fight against anti-Semitism by spearheading the development and implementation of policies. The Special Envoy also travels regularly to different countries to track anti-Semitic developments and advises local governments on best practices to address them.
In a Fox News Op-Ed published in March 2017, NCSEJ CEO Mark Levin described the Special Envoy position as “carrying weight in world capitals… Attendance by these envoys at global conferences sends a powerful message that the United States will not accept anti-Semitism as a norm.”
NCSEJ played a key role in mobilizing broad government and civil society support for filling the previously vacant position through letter campaigns and contacting Members of Congress. NCSEJ Chairman Daniel Rubin said, “I congratulate the Trump Administration for appointing Elan Carr to the position of Special Envoy. We anticipate working closely with him to fight the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Eurasia and around the world.”
