Only three more Sunday's until Rally Day on Sunday, September 18! We cannot believe it already so close, and we are getting so exited as the plans continue to unfold. From 10-11am we're going to have a BIG celebration featuring a plethora of games, activities, and opportunities for children, youth, and adults that center on the theme of abundance. We invite you and your family to join us in worship at 9am or 11am and at the party in between on September 18 to kick-off a new school year of community and ministry here at Advent!

This e-letter marks our fourth week in a series of weekly at-home family activities about "abundance" to prepare us all for Rally Day. If you didn't catch our last three e-letters, join in!

Are you ready for our next "Abundance Activity?" Here is the challenge for each person:

Count all your toys, or things that bring you fun and entertainment. (Parents, iPhone games, gadgets, gizmos etc. can count.)

Here are some optional follow-up questions to talk about as a family: How is abundance more than just food, water, shelter? What else does an "abundant" life include besides basic needs or even material wealth?

p.s. Are you enjoying our "Abundance Activities" each week? Could they be better? Please let me know!
We Still Need Sunday School Teachers

Could you be a parent who helps make Sunday School happen for all our families this year?

We're excited to announce that we already have 4 of the 8 Sunday School teachers we need for Sunday School this year! But that means we still need 4 more.

Please prayerfully consider if you are able to support our program by co-teaching a small group at Sunday School this school year. It is easy, rewarding, and fun!

Sunday School Teacher Details

  • Your lesson plan and materials are provided for you each week. You get the lesson plan by email a few days ahead of time to review. Then a printed lesson plan and any materials you need will be waiting for you Sunday morning.
  • You can opt to teach one of four age groups: babies and toddlers, lower elementary, upper elementary, or teens.
  • You are paired with a teaching partner for your group. The two of you should lead together as much as possible, but also have the flexibility of having your partner cover the Sundays you can't make it. (It's also fun getting to work with another parent/adult in our congregation and get to know them better.)
  • You'll get a training session with all the other teachers during the regular Sunday School hour, 10-11am, on September 11 (the Sunday before Rally Day) to make sure you feel prepared to lead your group.

Please consider being a Sunday School teacher! We also welcome any volunteers who'd like to help us plan and set up the festivities and activities for Rally Day on September 18.

If you're interested in being a Sunday School teacher this school year, or helping out with Rally Day, please send an email to Zachary at

(p.s. If you haven't heard yet, Zachary is our newest full-time staff member, taking over office administration and Sunday School coordination. He is awesome and very excited to meet you! Jessica Christy is beginning an exciting next chapter of her life at Luther Seminary in Minnesota. You can say hi or send her a thank-you note for all her work leading Sunday School at )
