Winter Dance Party (Friday)
John Mueller's "Winter Dance Party" is an estate-endorsed tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. Rock out to more than two hours of unbridled, high voltage entertainment featuring all the hit songs of the classic 50's era. At the McKinney Performing Arts Center in the Courtroom Theater, 111 N. Enjoy cake and conversation when local artist Jeni Tomlinson presents an exploration of her process as she develops a painting.  Stages, steps, preliminary moments, all lead to final products. Saturday, 6-9 p.m. and Sunday, 4-6 p.m. At The Cove, 402 N. Tennessee Street. Free admission.

Nature Story Time (Friday)
Story times are designed primarily for young children and will introduce a different nature-themed book each week. 30-45 minutes depending on the book covered. Included in general admission and free for Heard Museum Members. 10:30 a.m.

2nd Saturday Bird Walk (shown, Saturday)
This monthly event takes place at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary September through May each year. These walks help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and ID techniques. No reservations needed, but please arrive on time (8 a.m.). Included in general admission and is free for Heard Museum members.
