Bus Registration

Morning bus runs and stops are posted on the school system's website for reference, but parents are encouraged to attend open house to get the most current stop location and times. Routes change daily as we continue to update ridership information, therefore stop times are not listed on the website.

If parents or guardians have questions about their child ridership information, please contact the school bus coordinator at their child's school by phone or email. It may take several days to establish a new stop if your child is not currently assigned to a bus stop, so please be patient as we work through a large volume of requests this time of year. Parents can register their child to ride the bus from our website as well.

We hope to have a web query available soon that parents can access from our school website. They would be able to type in their address to see which school they would attend, closest bus stop, bus number and approximate stop time. We will communicate with parents via social media outlets and school websites when this feature is available.
Please be on the lookout for school buses and students waiting for buses beginning Monday morning, August 29. Please review the stop arm laws and be aware that we have buses equipped with "stop arm cameras" that record video both inside and outside the bus to help aid in prosecution of drivers who pass stopped school buses.

In addition, please pay attention to the driver of the bus. They will be communicating with students by hand signals to let them know when it's safe to cross the road. Also, recognize the danger zone around the bus as described here.

Other pertinent safety information can be found on the school bus safety website.

6th Grade Participation in Athletics

In August, the North Carolina State Board of Education revised their Interscholastic Athletics Policy. The new policy changes the grade level at which students may participate in interscholastic competition from grades 7-12 to grades 6-12. As part of this change, state board policy now states that 6th grade students may participate in all interscholastic sports with the exception of football.

The policy allows each LEA or charter school to determine whether or not 6th graders may participate in interscholastic athletics, with the exception of football.  Davie County Schools will be convening a committee in September to discuss this local option. This committee will bring recommendations to the Davie County Board of Education for discussion and consideration at their regular meeting in October.

Until our local board of education has an opportunity to weigh in on this option and hear recommendations of our local committee, the current practice remains the same and only 7th and 8th grade students are eligible to participate in middle school interscholastic athletics.
New Notification System

Davie County Schools has a new notification system! SchoolMessenger’s InfoCenter will allow you to access all messages and personalize how you receive communications through a website or an app on your phone. Davie County Schools will also have the ability to send out short text messages for those that opt in to the service.

Please watch for information in the coming weeks on how to set up your account. Right now, you can take action by verifying that parent phone numbers and email addresses are correct on the Student Information Card. Please make any corrections necessary and turn the card in to your school.

Until you are able to set up your account, you will still receive messages from Davie County Schools. Notifications will be sent to your student’s home phone number and to any parent email addresses already on file.

For more information, please visit SchoolMessenger's info center. Be on the lookout for notification that InfoCenter is live and ready to use!
